~The Fool~

Yuroki Hasimare

I pressed close against the wall as the wind blew through Noorsmel.

Once it stopped, I resumed climbing. The things I do for this girl. I thought with a chuckle. It wasn't all that strange though. I mean, I've been doing this for weeks now. Almost two months. I grunted, grabbing onto the window ledge.

(A few weeks earlier)

I stumbled backward as someone crashed against me.

"Sorry." She muttered. We locked eyes and I felt my heart skip a beat. "Are you alright?" I blinked and shook myself a little. Well, that was embarrassing. "Yeah, I'm fine. Why were you running?" She sighed. "I—" "There she is!"

"Shit," She muttered. Before I could see who she was running from she grabbed my hand and dragged me into an ally. "What are you—" "Shh." She hissed, covering my mouth. It was then that I noticed her attire.

"You're royalty." I whispered, after prying her hand off my face. She rolled her eyes. "Noooo, I dress like this for fun." I just stared at her. "I bet you're running away because your mother wants you to marry someone you don't like." She scoffed. "Please, this is not one of those stupid stories you hear as a child." She walked over to the entrance of the alleyway and peeked out. "I ran off because I was bored." "That's.....it?" "Mhm."

I walked up behind her and turned her around. "So, who are you?" She sighed dramatically. "I'm not surprised that you don't know who I am. Mother doesn't like for me to leave the palace, this is actually the first time I've been outside." I raised an eyebrow. "And you're not dead?" "Why would I be dead?" "Last time I checked, fresh air and sunlight are essential." "It's Augg." "So?!"

She froze, brown eyes widening in alarm. I shifted closer to her so I could whisper. "Maybe you'll be less recognizable if you lose the fancy dress." She gasped and smacked my chest then glared at me. "You just want to see my breasts. You pervert!" I rolled my eyes. "Please, Princess." I grabbed her face and stared into her eyes. "I've seen plenty, yours aren't special."

Rolling her eyes she pushed my hand away. "You know, for a princess, you don't seem very.....delicate." "Because I'm not delicate." I raised my eyebrows. "I'm not!" She clenched her jaw. I nodded towards the ground. "There's a spider."

With a loud squeal she jumped toward me and grabbed my shirt. "What?! Where?!" I laughed and realization dawned on her. "You asshole!" She spat, slapping me across the face. "Ow! Rude!"

Ignoring me she took a deep breath and fixed her skirt. "Now, commoner—" "Yuroki." She frowned. "What?" "Yuroki. I have a name, princess." She crossed her arms. "As do I, use it." I grabbed her hand and kissed her knuckles. "I apologize for my senseless words and actions, princess Aravina."

"Right." She said slowly, pulling her hand out of mine. "Yuroki, you don't seem like someone who lived a luxurious life—" "Gee, thanks." "So, you probably know these streets like the back of your hand. Right?" I crossed my arms and looked down at her. "Yes, what about it?" She stepped closer. "Help me have a little fun today. I do have to go back to the palace tonight, but we could have some fun until then." I smirked. "What kind of fun?"

Rolling her eyes she grabbed my hand again and dragged me out of the alleyway. "That's not what I meant. I have dignity, and you're not that good looking." I chuckled. "So, you're implying that I am good looking?" "Maybe this is why Mother kept me inside."

I pulled my hand from her grasp and walked beside her. Making sure to match my pace with hers. "Clearly you don't have any brothers." She side-eyed me. "And clearly you know nothing about the history of Anovilla." I shrugged. I couldn't read anyway, and my father didn't like to talk about those things. I didn't know why though.
