Prolouge

Prologue:: Lower moon one: Mizu

A demon slayer was seen walking through the forest, going in deeper in each step she takes, the girl recalls the event that led her to what she was doing right now. It's been five years.

A family of three; a mother and her children, the eldest; a daughter while the youngest is a son. The mother raised her children all by herself as her 'boyfriend' left her when he found out she was pregnant. He wasn't ready to have a child; they got drunk and accidentally did it. But, was it the right choice to leave a pregnant woman all alone? With no help, protection or even money? Abandoning her like that. The thought of it makes me sick.
The mother died seven years later after she gave birth to her second child. The daughter was now fifteen and was left to take care of her younger brother; Mizu.
The teen; Norielynn didn't know what to do. She was lost. She doesn't even know how to take care of herself properly and now she has to take care of a sibling..
It was until one day that the siblings got separated. Something was chasing them; or someone. Norielynn couldn't quite make out the face of that was chasing them. When daylight came, she immediately looked for her younger brother. But, he was gone. Not even a trace. It was like he disappeared through mid-air. The girl was left with questions in her head that she'll never get the answers to. Confusion, guilt, fear, and anger was written all over her face. She was mad at herself and took all the blame; maybe, just maybe if she didn't get separated with Mizu. The girl eventually found her way back to her home; the one she shared with her mother and brother. Too bad they were gone now. But she noticed two people in-front of the door, they noticed her.
The couple introduced themselves as Kagaya Ubuyashiki and Amane Ubuyashiki. She wondered why they were there. But she still gave her name in exchange. The couple asked her what had happened and that she wasn't in her home while she told them everything that happened. From her mother's death to her brother's missing. The couple felt sympathy for the teenage girl, that's when the man; Kagaya said something.
"Why don't we adopt her, Amane?"

Norielynn kept walking deeper in the forest while she recalled the end of that event. She was on a mission to defeat a demon. A lower moon actually. If she were to kill the demon, then she can be a hashira. When the couple adopted her, she served in the corps for years now and can get promoted into a higher position. Her mother's death, her brother missing; that was what made her do this. Revenge. She wanted to find the 'person' which chased her and Mizu years ago and get revenge on her family's behalf. To make them proud.

She stumbled upon a village, ruined. There were blood everywhere and not even a single living thing. A Demon's Work. That's when she felt a presence behind her. She got out her katana; getting ready for an attack. And the demon did attack her but when she turned to look at him, she was met with an unexpected sight. Mizu turned into a demon. The girl was shocked, questions in her head as she looked at the demon in front of her.

"Sister?.." Mizu said with an eyebrow said but slowly smirked

"I remember you. You were the only one I remember when I turned into a demon. Why not be a demon with me?" He offered, raising his hand in front of you as you stared at him in disbelief.

"No way! Mizu! Why? Why did you turn into a demon?" She asked

He narrowed his eyes at her; "Seems like you won't join me into being a demon, oh well. I'll kill you anyways." He said while smirking and quickly attacked the older sister

She dodged and kept asking her questions on why he turned into a demon, but he wouldn't answer and just continued to attack her. They fought and fought, Norielynn who had her head bleeding, a cut in her left arm. It was quite difficult since he was Lower moon one.

"Mizu.. Please tell me..." The girl said while tears filled her eyes, but she didn't let them fall.

"Tell you what?" The demon answered coldly

"Why did you become a demon? When? Was it that day when we were chased by-" She was cut off by Mizu screaming while dodging her attacks

"YOU LEFT ME ALL ALONE THAT DAY."

"No I didn't! I looked for you when it was daybreak!"

"No you didn't. You never cared for me. I hate you."

She was in shock. She spent her years looking for him and when she finally finds him this is the thing you tell her? Ouch.

"I do care about you! Don't you know how many years i've spent looking for you!?" Norielynn said while cutting off the arms of the demon

"Lier!"

"Let's end this now Mizu. I'll end your suffering."

"I'll end you first."

The two fought until daytime. Five minutes left before daybreak. Mizu thought of killing her and quickly run away, but-

"Mizu, I can't fight you! Just go!" She announced with tears streaming down her face

"Why? Isn't that against your stupid corps rules?" He laughed it off

"Because I can't kill my mother's only son, and to think of the fact that the son will die by the hands of his own sister. It hurts."

The demon stopped moving, eyes wide opened. Right, he remembered now.

"Norielynn, you must protect your brother, do not hurt him"

"I would never hurt him mom!"

"I love you two."

He remembered the one of the last sentences of his mother before she died
'You must protect your brother, do not hurt him'

The demon took the chance and cut off the demon's head. While whispering;
"I'm so sorry Mizu. I'm such a bad sister, don't worry, i'll end your suffering now. I'll always love you. In this life or another"

Those were the last things he heard, and before blacking out; he smiled and let out a sigh of relief and faded away. Mizu; whose last breath was a sigh of relief, his sufferings and his life; ended by his very own sister who swore that she will never hurt him.  He couldn't even say his last words for her;

'I'm so sorry sister. I failed you. In another life?'

The girl looked at the spot were her brother faded from;

"In another life, Mizu."
