CHAPTER ONE
Here's My Middle Finger, Asshole

Mia hated the new place. Not to mention how her Aunt Jo had to keep leaving for work constantly, leaving Mia alone. They both decided it was best for Mia to not go to a 'normal' school. Mia assumed it was because of being a witch that was still learning to control her power, but really, it was that Jo was scared. She was scared that Mia would be like Kai and cause pain to everyone in the school, even if she didn't mean to do so.

Mia looked at the fireplace and furrowed her brows when a flame appeared out of nowhere. Then she looked behind her to see her aunt rushing around, pacing to grab her own things. "Mia, I need you to grab your things, now. I have to show the med students everything. Come on." Jo said, frustrated with herself.

Mia sighed, easily putting out the flame. She followed her aunt out the door with her backpack. Jo technically homeschooled Mia. It was more of Mia being dragged to the Whitmore Medical Centre by her Aunt Jo, but it was better than sitting in a boring classroom.

The young witch sat in the waiting room for the most part, watching people with blood pouring out of their nose, vomitters, nearly dead, and annoying people, all run in. She was ready to punch one elderly lady who was complaining about the younger generation. Then she watched a guy with brown hair, looking like he was going to throw up, accompanied by an older guy, maybe around her aunt's age, with a red shirt, walk in. Mia tilted her head. She didn't know why, but she didn't trust the older guy. The younger one seemed somewhat trustable, but she was still cautious.

Then she heard the older one on the phone, talking about a guy called Tripp. After he hung up, Mia heard her aunt say one of the names 'Alaric'. Mia looked up at her aunt, who quickly glanced at her, making sure she was okay.

"Hey. Hi."

"Who do we have here?" Jo asked.

"This is Jeremy... Jeremy Gilbert. He is a little..."

"Underage?" Jo assumed. "Yeah, I can see that."

Jeremy groaned and grunted. Alaric gestured to him."I was, uh, hoping you could give him one of those rapid-rehydration hangover cure type-things."

"Oh yeah, you mean the ones we reserve for professional athletes and starving children in third-world countries? We'll start with a full workup. Physical, blood, toxicology." Then she looked at Mia. "Mia, when was the last time you had something to eat?"

Alaric furrowed his brows and looked at the younger girl. Mia sighed, "three hours ago."

Jo sighed, "please tell me I packed you a lunch." Jo pleaded. Mia nodded, grabbing her stuff from the bag. "Alright, just go to the lounge and eat there." Jo instructed.

Mia glanced at Alaric and Jeremy curiously and then left.

"Who—"

"That's my niece. I've been taking care of her since she was born. Alright, anyway, back to you, Jeremy." Jo turned it around.

Mia sat down in the very small lounge. She did not like Alaric at all. But she did notice how her aunt was looking at him and she hated it. Maybe it was nothing. Like her aunt continues to say to people, Mia isn't always the best with emotions or reading people, just like her father.

Mia happily ate the cheeseburger that she had assembled just now. Her mom had the idea of placing the bun, cheese slice, pickles and ketchup in separate containers while the actual burger patty went in a small thermos. And Mia had no complaints about it. Even though Jo grimaced whenever she had to make cheeseburgers for Mia, she did it, but she usually got Mia to do some of it.

She watched Alaric walk by with her aunt and glared at him through the window. He looked past Jo's shoulder and into the room, smiling awkwardly and Mia flipped her middle finger at him with a genuine smile on her face. The action caused his smile to falter.

Mia doesn't like two things: the new place and Alaric

And I don't blame her

Okay, bye!
