Alastor laid in bed. He refused to unpack. Lucifer would come and say he made a mistake and take him back by force. Yes he had to wait till morning when Lucifer realized how bad he needed him.
Morning came and Lucifer still wasn't here. Alastor sat up. Something is a miss. Just then there was a knock on the door. Alastor got up and opened to reveal Vox again. This time he was holding a glass of orange juice and a small plate with toast on it.
"Either you don't like group meals or you just don't eat," Vox joked with a nervous laugh.
"Is Lucifer down there?" Alastor asked thinking maybe he had to show his face to him.
"Uhhhhh no," Vox said confused.
"I see," Alastor said sounding hurt, however, there was another question on his mind. "Why do you keep bringing me food?"
"Because it's the nice thing to do especially when you know someone's world is falling apart around them," Vox said. "I've been there and no one took care of me."
Alastor froze. Vox was actually doing this to be genuinely nice. Not to obtain anything but to be honest sinner. Alastor reached out and took the food. Vox smiled as Alastor took the item. Vox pushed his glasses back up. Vox turned to leave and walked down the hall a little bit.
"Wait!" Alastor said.
Vox stopped and looked backed at Alastor who was outside the doorway a little.
"Would you like to come in?" Alastor offered. "I hardly know much about you other than an overlord owns you from a gambling debt."
Vox smiled and nodded. Vox walked over and Alastor walked in and moved out of the way for Vox to enter. Vox looked around to see a bare room.
"Do you need help unpacking?" Vox offered. "Or maybe help furnishing?"
"That would be nice," Alastor admitted.
"Great, I would love to help," Vox said. "What would you like?"
"I don't know whatever you think is best," Alastor said with a shrug.
"No you've been told what to do your whole life, you should try to make a decision," Vox said. "It will be empowering for you."
Alastor laughed. Vox was a weird guy for sure. Vox looked around the room.
"Well you have a suitcase with clothes in it maybe some kind of dresser?" Vox offered. "We can go around the empty rooms until we find one you like."
Alastor nodded as he finished his toast. Vox smiled a gentle smile towards Alastor. Alastor liked that this guy seems to trust him with his own decisions. There was no alliterative motive to his plans. He didn't want sex or companionship or for him to raise his daughter in return. He just wanted Alastor to feel welcomed.
"I should warn you," Alastor said. "You may find my style repulsive."
Vox let out a nervous chuckle.
"Alright I guess I can handle that I think," Vox said.
Alastor got up and held out his arm as habit. Vox stared at then looked at Alastor.
"What are you doing?" Vox asked with a slight blush.
"I am escorting you," Alastor said. "For safety if my arm is linked with yours I can pull you out of the way of danger and have you close."
"Uh," Vox said with his blush getting darker. "I really appreciate that but uh you see that sounds like one of your concubine duties and uh I just don't want you to have do those for me."
Alastor paused. Shit it was one of Thai things he did. He didn't know how to walk with someone without following or holding their arm. Alastor put his arm down and looked at Vox feeling his face turn red.
"My apologies," Alastor addressed.
"It's alright just think of me as someone you can practice things on like a fresh start," Vox said. "I won't judge."
Alastor nodded.
"You are quite kind Mr. Vox," Alastor said.
Vox entire screen was an entire bright blue. He put his hand on the back of his head and rubbed the back of his head. He added a nervous chuckle to his movements. He felt really embarrassed.
"Great let's go," Vox said pointing to the door with a finger gun.
Alastor laughed for how awkward Vox looked.
"Yes let's," Alastor said. They found took a black wardrobe, a brown oak desks, two red velvet seating chairs, and a black book case back to Alastor's room. Vox moved the furniture to where Alastor wanted it and helped him place his clothes in the wardrobe.
During their work they talked about Vox's dream of running a media empire and Alastor liked the sound of that. He forgot he once's dreamed of power. It was interesting to see Vox still had his dream even though he was an owned man. Vox talked about how his boss had a fascination with this project. His boss thought it was a good idea to steal new souls who thought they had a chance to be saved. They looked at what they accomplished and felt like the morning was rather productive.
"I think we did a great job," Vox said.
"It does look rather nice," Alastor said admiring their work. "Thank you."
"Yeah no problem," Vox said.
Vox took off his glass and cleaned them with his undershirt that he untucked for that exact purpose.
"A new device needs glasses is funny to me," Alastor admitted trying to make conversation.
"Oh yeah," Vox said as he placed his glass on his face and blinked a few times to readjust. "Husker took my vision chip so he could break my glasses and all me to run away."
"That seems rather cruel," Alastor said thinking of the times Lucifer broke his things to punish him.
"Well I mean I did try to run away once," Vox said. "His goons caught me and that's when he broke my screen and gave me a new modern head for the seventies but it was missing the vision chip and it's always been like that since."
Vox seemed to be upset after that story. His body language went from the high self confident to low and he was sighing a lot.
"Lucifer used to break and take things away when I missed behaved in the beginning too," Alastor admitted.
Vox nodded.
"Powerful men am I right?" Vox joked.
Alastor laughed at his stupid joke. Alastor felt safe around Vox but maybe it was because he opened up so much around him.
"You seem to trust people rather fast," Alastor said.
"Well you know," Vox said. "It's easy when you know someone won't hurt you back. I mean I guess I don't know that. Maybe you will hear me but you deserve a chance."
Just then the knock on the door rang out. Alastor walked over to see Charlie.
"Miss Morningstar," Alastor addressed her.
"Is Vox in here it's time for our activity," Charlie said.
Alastor turned back to see Vox walk over and wave at her.
"I guess I should go," Vox said.
Alastor looked at the empty room. He didn't want to just sit there and dream about Lucifer coming to get him. Actually he hadn't thought about Lucifer in four hours.
"May I come too Miss Morningstar?" Alastor asked.
"Why of course!" Charlie said practically jumping up and down.
Alastor opened the door more for Vox to leave. The three of them headed down towards the lobby.
