*Torres at top.*
~Torres POV~

I made it over the finish line a full thirty seconds behind Quinn. I crossed my arms, taking a deep breath, getting him breakfast wasn't as bad as the smile that pushed up the sides of his black mask. “I'll win next time.”

“Maybe,” was all he said, but he seemed to be having fun. “Let's go, that was a nice warmup, but we should hit the range. I want to see if you're as good as the Colonel says.

“Is that what this is, just you testing me?” My smile dropped, any hope of being friendly with this man was gone.

“If I'm going to trust you, I have to see what you can do, not read about it.” His voice was harsh as he leaned in.

I stepped away, pulling out the gun on my thigh, and fired a few shots at a tree about 50 yards away. “Go check my grouping.” I walked away, I had better things to do that deal with an over anxious masked man.

“That's a händgün, and I could get you on latrine duty for that!”

“Do it!” I shout back, “I'll be in bed.”

My first day really started at 7am. It was long and hard, but this base was where I had been assigned, so I had to put up with everything. I didn't speak to Quinn the rest of the day, even when we were right beside each other. He would try to talk, and I'd walk away.

I barely managed a shower before falling into bed, expecting to see him staring at me from across the room. He wasn't there. Maybe he'd finally been allowed to see Hawks? But visiting hours were already over.

Forcing myself up, I pulled my clothes back on, and went to find him, guilty over how I'd acted.
