Chapter 1 - Black Hurricane

Centuries ago, the demons attacked the current world that humans live in. The skies were shrouded by darkness and everyone has accepted their fate.

5 mages stood tall and confronted the demons. With their powers combined, they managed to fend off the demons and created a barrier that would protect them from attacks that would come from different dimensions. The 5 mages were revered as "Wizard Saints" by the public. They were like gods for the ordinary people. Gods who extended their lives by fighting for them.

With that issue in mind, a tower was constructed. The tallest tower which will inhabit the current Wizard Saints. It is said that at the top of the tower, you can see the genuine beauty of the world. Sunsets that were only seen in books occur at the top. To be fair, the skies under the tower are only projected by the powers of the Wizard Saints.

The Wizard Saints were continued by those who were deemed worthy by the Wizard Saints themselves. There were only 2 ways to be called as one: Be chosen by a Wizard Saint or Create 5 original magics.

This marks the beginning of Asta's story of becoming a Wizard Saint!

It was meaningless, to begin with, Asta Staria is manaless and only has his sword as his saving grace.

One cannot be a Wizard Saint without magic. The term wizard itself is used for people who can use magic. He's more suitable to be a warrior than a wizard. This won't stop Asta's dream though, he wants to keep his promise to Noelle, who is a Wizard Saint, to follow her at the top of the tower as they enjoy the sunset.

Asta and Noelle were both orphans. They were raised at a church from Hage Village, along with a guy named Yuno. The three of them grew close to each other and the two guys considered themselves as twins. It's a different case for Asta and Noelle. It's not a typical friendship that just grows over time with no development. It's something that you can call "childhood love."

The pair loves to read books together and always spends time together when time is on their side. They always lay down under a huge tree and bond together.

The three children were talented. Both Noelle and Yuno had vast amounts of magic but Asta is powerless. He makes up for it with his crazy physical prowess which rivals adults at such a young age. Yuno and Noelle had already created their own magics and were on the way to being a Wizard Saint. Asta, on the other hand, is honing his skills to rival the demons.

"Asta, according to the books, a beautiful color will show in the sky when it reaches sunset! I want to see it! I want to see it with you!"
"Noelle... Only a Wizard Saint can see the sunset. We must strive to be stronger and be Wizard Saints as well! Knowing you, you have what it takes to be a Wizard Saint, unlike a manaless guy like me..."
"A-Asta... But you're stronger than me!"
"It doesn't matter, I'm a manaless orphan with just his sword as a weapon. I am what the Magic Council calls an incompetent. You already created 2 original magics at 6 years old. You have 3 left to go so you can enjoy the sunset!"
"But Asta... Promise me that we will see the sunset together."
"I promise you, Noelle. We will see that sunset together."

"Asta, what's the answer to question number 2?"

Asta blasted up from his seat. He was caught asleep by his professor. Everyone laughed at Asta for sleeping in class. They find it funny that the only magicless person in their academy still gets caught sleeping while a lecture is happening. He's known as a good student or what they call a learner but he really doesn't fit the criteria of a wizard.
