Take The Risk Or Lose The Chance

Could you hit "17", "2", "3", "9" or the central red bull's-eye on the scoreboard? How will you ever know the answer if you haven't even bought a dartboard?

"You miss one hundred percent of the shots you don't take." - Wayne Gretzky. I, personally, am a firm believer of this quote which truly resonates deep within my soul. If you don't attempt to do something then you are guaranteed failure, whereas if you just motivate yourself to try, you have a fifty percent chance of succeeding according to mathematics and I'm no mathematician but those odds seem significantly greater to me than a zero percent chance of success.

I make a great effort to live by a similar famous quote that goes, “Try and fail but don't fail to try” - Ant Middleton. Do you want to get that degree, befriend that charismatic and admirable person, marry that guy or girl? Then how will you ever if you don't apply to that university, strike a conversation with that person or bring yourself to propose.

Get out of your comfort zone and choose to engage in something bizarre, out of the ordinary. What if it only crosses your path a single time in your life and leaves you with a panging feeling of regret for the rest of your life had you chosen to squander the opportunity that was at the tip of your fingers only moments ago? Wouldn't you wish that you could go back in time to rectify the mistake you made? You can't. Go back in time, that is. You will never be able to undo what was done or rather _not done._  Perhaps that feeling will haunt you to your grave and never leave your side, wishing there was something you could do to bring that moment back into the palm of your hands.

Although you will never be able to, unfortunately, what you can do is choose to use the frightening thought of a possible future with the absence of your desires to remind yourself, in a split second before the moment slips by, that you can't change your past, but you can choose wisely to write your future. You alone hold the pen of writing your present to read perhaps the greatest book that you have ever written... and if worse comes to worst you can always 'burn the book.'

If you want something, go for it. Sieze the moment and grab your hands on something that may be a once in a lifetime opportunity. Do what makes your heart race before your heart stops. Do your part by simply attempting and giving it a go. You won't know until you finally try.
