merely hummed in response, slowly dragging his fingers through Xeranthi's silken raven locks like a spider crawling through a web. Though her hair felt as soft as silk against his skin, her glare pierced him all the harder.
"Of course," he murmured, his dual-colored tresses falling in a cascade as his head lolled lazily to one side.
"Of course she looks like me."
"She is my daughter, after all. Born of my blood and blessed with my beauty. Any who look upon her face cannot deny she holds the radiance of divinity."

Xeranthi swallowed down the rising bile that filled her throat at his feathery touch. How she longed to tear herself from his snare and flee his ominous presence, yet some eldritch magic held her fast. Shadowy tendrils encircled her limbs in a vice-like grip, constricting with each movement until her skin tingled and burned under the pressure.

Aionarch purred, brushing his lips across her furrowed brow. Xeranthi grimaced, grinding her teeth against another whimper of pain as the shadowy tendrils squeezed ever tighter.
