Jimin took a deep breath, hitched the strap of the bag onto his shoulder, and stepped onto the sprawling campus of Jeon University. The air was crisp that morning, but as pleasing as the weather was, there was a certain familiar tension in the air. This was already his third year in this institution, yet every time he passed through those gates, it felt like he was walking into a battlefield.

*Let's just go home. I don't like the smell here,* his wolf growled; his voice was impatient, echoing through his mind.

"We can't just avoid life because of a few bad smells," Jimin replied mentally, rolling his eyes. His wolf had been in a mood all morning, likely annoyed from their brief interaction with some overly enthusiastic Alphas at the pack house who thought it was fun to invade his personal space.

*You'd think with all this supposed 'progress,' they'd leave us alone,* his wolf huffed. *I bet it's the same here. Stupid Alphas.*

Jimin let his breath out. His wolf had a point. Times were supposed to have changed over the years, and Omegas had more free will, more respect. But there were still too many Alphas and Betas who had a difficult time getting past the old stereotypes. Omegas were still stereotyped as fragile, subservient creatures, and Jimin hated being stuck with that particular stereotype. He had one smart-alecky wolf, one determined will, and if people thought he was going to tuck his tail between his legs and be obedient, they had another thing coming.

*Let's bite someone. That'll teach them.* His wolf was suggestively gleeful.

"We're not biting anyone today," Jimin thought back exasperated. "It is too early for that kind of chaos."

He caught a few stares as he strode toward his first class; some curious, some uncaring, and a few-as it always was-with that thinly veiled disdain. He didn't let it matter. He was used to it by now, and he would be damned if he let them get to him. His father's friendship with Alpha Jeon Juno had granted him a place in this pack, but that didn't keep some people from acting like he didn't belong. If it wasn't for his friendship with Jungkook, Juno's son, things might have been even worse.

"Speaking of Jungkook, where is that idiot?" Jimin muttered to himself.

*Probably working out. Bet he smells good*, his wolf chimed in, almost purring.

"Focus."

Jimin shook his head, dislodging the distracting thoughts as he continued down the hallway toward his lecture. But just around the corner, a group of Alphas blocked his way. Lounging by the lockers, their scents were thick with the type of arrogance Jimin had long since learned to steer clear of.

One of them, a tall muscular Alpha with a smirk that could light a match, stepped forward, his eyes gleaming with a predatory glint as he looked Jimin up and down. "Well, if isn't our favorite little Omega."

*Ugh, here we go*, his wolf thought, already annoyed.

"I don't have time for this," Jimin said flatly, trying to sidestep the group.

But then there was the Alpha, Jae-something, who wasn't about to let him off that easily. Leaning in, he crowded Jimin's space. "What's the hurry? We're trying to be friendly here. Why don't we take you out tonight? Omegas like you need a strong Alpha to look after them."

His wolf growled, *Strong Alpha, my tail. We should claw his face off.*

"Dude, chill. I've got this," Jimin reassured his wolf, though he felt his hackles rising.

Jimin's lips curled into a sarcastic smile as he looked up at the Alpha. "Oh, how thoughtful of you. But I'd rather gouge my eyes out than spend an evening with you and your pack of-" he glanced around at the other Alphas, "-intellectual heavyweights.".

The smirk on Jae's face faltered for a second as his eyes narrowed. "You think you're funny, Omega?"

"No, but I know I'm right," Jimin shot back, stepping past him with a sassy walk.

Before he could fully walk away, another Alpha-this one shorter, yet stockier-cut him off. "You know, an Omega with that kind of attitude is just begging to be put in his place."

*Bite him. We can take him. Just one good bite.* his wolf growled, getting restless with each passing second.

"We're not biting anyone!" Jimin thought in return, even though the urge was really tempting.

Jae and his friends closed in on him, their scents overwhelming now. Jimin's wolf was practically pacing in his mind, his growls echoing louder still as the Alphas sneered at him.

"It's Alphas like you that make me wonder why the hell we even try, sometimes, to progress as human beings," Jimin said, his voice sharper now, his patience thin.

Just as Jae was going to retort, a familiar voice cut through the tension like a blade. "Is there a problem here? Familiar scent also washed over them.

Jimin turned to find Jungkook standing a few feet away, arms across his chest, his dark eyes fixed intently on the Alphas. He didn't look angry-yet-but an edge was palpable in his presence, some silent warning.

*Yes kookie, kick their assets,*

The Alphas immediately bristled. They could be arrogant around an Omega, but Jungkook was another affair altogether. He wasn't an Alpha - he was the successor to the pack leader. And if there was one thing Alphas admired more than their own egos, it was authority.

Jae forced a laugh, raising his hands in mock defeat. "No problem here. We were just having a friendly chat with Jimin."

"Right," Jungkook said, heavy skepticism lacing his tone. "Then you won't mind if I walk him to class, would you?"

Jae faltered for a moment, his eyes darting between Jungkook and Jimin, before he shrugged and stepped back. "Yeah. No problem at all."

As the group of Alphas slowly dispersed, Jimin let out a breath he hadn't realized he was holding. Jungkook stepped up beside him, his presence automatically centering him in ways no one else's could.

"Thanks," Jimin muttered, a little embarrassed that Jungkook needed to step in.

Jungkook cast him a sideways look, a small smile tugging at the corner of his mouth. "Anytime, don't mention it. You know I got your back."

Jimin's wolf purred in satisfaction now. *See? This is why we keep him around.*

"Yeah, yeah!" Jimin thought, grateful though still a bit miffed at the whole situation. "I could have taken them, you know.

Jungkook chuckled. "I don't doubt it. But I like you to watch me make them squirm."

Jimin rolled his eyes, but a smile tugged at his lips despite himself. With Jungkook by his side, the rest of the day didn't seem so daunting anymore. Maybe his wolf was right after all-having a strong Alpha around wasn't always so bad.
