Jealousy

“Wake up, you chicken brain!”

Liam jumps out of his bed as Lia, his twin sister, shouts.

“Ow, my head... Can't you be less annoying?” He gets up, rearranging his hair.

“No, in 20 minutes we have school, and you didn't even wake up. Now get ready, or you'll kiss the pan.” She leaves the room, Liam sighing. After some time, both of them stand at the school gate saying goodbye, each heading to different classes. Liam walks to his class, 10B, and as he opens the door, someone scares him from behind.

“Boo!” Liam instantly dashes in one direction, scared by his boyfriend, Nate, a funny boy who loves pulling pranks.

“Hun, stop doing that. You make me feel like I'm in a horror movie.” Nate stops laughing, wiping his eyes.

“Sorry, I just love your scared face. Anyways, how's your morning, Bae?” Nate kisses Liam, a soft touch of the lips making Liam forget about the scare.

“Just woke up by my annoying sister.”

As they continue chatting, Ms. Reynolds approaches them.

“Aren't you two supposed to be in class?”

“A-ah.. Yeah! I totally forgot about that! Naty, we'll meet after school! Byee.” He immediately rushes to his desk, but as he opens his book, he hears some rumors spreading among the class.

“You know... I feel bad for the poor boy,” said a girl.

“I know... Being cheated on when he's not around is really unfaithful,” said another girl.

“That Nate should respect his boyfriend if he doesn’t want to ruin the relationship—” As the third girl continues her sentence, Liam punches his desk and leaves the classroom, a fuel of anger and jealousy radiating on his face. He calls his boyfriend to the hallway and as Nate arrives, Liam slaps him.

“What the?...” said Nate with a little confusion.

“How could you? I loved you!” Liam shouts at Nate, tears falling from his eyes.

“I think it's a mistake... What happe—” Liam punches him in the face.

“You know exactly what you did, you cheater! I did everything for you. I protected you from those homophobic bullies, I saved your life at the river and you repay me by cheating?”

“I can explain... Let me—”

“Get out of my life. GET OUT!”

As Nate tries to hug and comfort Liam, he pushes Nate onto the open window, unbalancing him. Nate falls out the window. A girl starts screaming as Liam looks outside. Nate is lying motionless on the ground, people staring at his corpse.

“No... No no no no no! What have I done? I'm a monster... I'm a murderer! I KILLED HIM!”

Everything goes black, an unknown voice saying, “He’s opening his eyes! He’s awake!”

“H-huh? W-what happened?” Liam asks as he gets up, lying on a hospital bed. Lia, Nate, and his parents are near him, crying with happiness. The doctor comes near Liam, speaking softly.

“You fell down the stairs 4 days ago, hitting your head and going into a coma. But congratulations! You woke up!”

“So it was all... a dream? Nate, I'm so sorry.”

“For what?” Nate asks, confused. Liam starts telling the whole dream, making Nate chuckle and hug him.

“It was just a dream. You know I'll never replace you with another person.”

They hug for a couple of minutes, Liam crying with happiness.
