You had joined Dua for lunch but you were starting to regret your decisions as your mind raced with possible issues or things that might come up when you're eating with her, like what if she asks you to get her a drink and you get the wrong one and as you're giving it to her you trip and spill it all over her expensive black suit that must be from Gucci or something.  As you were frantically fiddling with the gold rings on your hand, Dua returned to the table she had picked out for you both upon entering and sat down, still air-drying her hands from washing them in the restroom.

"Sorry about that, do you know what you want?" She asks as she picks up the menu to glance at it before setting it back down, already knowing what she wants since she comes here so often.

"Um, yeah I think I am just going to get a salad and some of their soup." You say as you close the menu and look up at her to see her scrunch her nose up at you.

"Oh c'mon, have something else... I know that you don't really want a salad." She says with a knowing smile.

Before you can disagree, the waiter comes up to take her and your order.

"Can I get the sweet and sour chicken and she'll have the same," Dua says ordering for you both as she takes your menu out of your hands before you can even think of speaking up. The waiter quickly writes down the order and leaves for the kitchen before your mouth can open.

"What was that for?" You ask, frowning a little and she just laughs in amusement.

"I'm not stupid Y/n." She says tilting her head at you. "I want you to be comfortable in your job working for me so that means in every aspect, even when it comes to food. I don't want you to think you can't be yourself around me just because I display myself as a mean, strict woman who fires her assistants after one thing."

"What?" You say completely oblivious to her remarks. You were told to do some research about Dua Lipa before getting into the contract with her by your friends, but you were always too lazy so you never bothered. The internet must have a lot on her with her work environment if she expects you to know the things that have happened with her assistants before.

"What? You didn't know I fired one of my assistants after a day of her working with me? Technically it wasn't my fault... She was.. well I could just tell it wasn't going to work out, so I fired her."

You blink at her, taken aback by her reasoning and you wonder if you would be getting fired quickly too.

"How many assistants have you had?"

"32... This year."

"But it's only July?"

"Exactly."

You sit back a little, not sure what to think and now you wish you would've listened to your friends about doing your research. You wondered if that was the reason why it was so easy to get a job as her assistant because she was either a handful or something crazier.

"But don't worry hun, you should have nothing to worry about, as long as you do your work and do what I ask, you will be fine." She says smiling kindly as if she didn't just say she's had 32 assistants in the past 7 months. You nod without saying anything and thankfully the waiter comes back with yours and her food, distracting you guys for a few minutes as you eat your food in an uncomfortable silence.

You both sit like that for a while until she clears her throat speaking up again.

"I didn't make you nervous did I?" She says taunting you.

"N-no, no I'm fine." You say faking confidence. She could see right through your little act but didn't mention it.

"Good... I wanted to discuss some work business if you don't mind," She says as she wipes her mouth with her napkin while pushing her plate to the side, propping her elbows on the table, and looking at you with an almost predatorial gaze.

"Next weekend for a week I have a press tour to attend and I need someone to be there with me to handle all of my needs since I get very worked up at things like that, I was going to invite my friend but she had to cancel, so I need you to come with me. I know you are new but you'll have a week to get comfortable and you should be fine. You won't need to make an appearance or anything in front of anyone since there will be a crowd but I need you close to my side at all times."

You squint your eyes at her, trying to tell if she's being serious. You've only known her for 5 hours and she asking you to attend a press tour conference for a week.

"A week-long conference? Where is it?"

"It's in New York," She says nonchalantly as she waves over the waiter for the check. "So you will fly over with me in my private jet and you will do what any normal assistant does and do as I need you to."

The waiter approaches with the check and you're so distracted by her words that you don't bother to look up. She smirks as she sees your reaction before quickly paying for both your meal and her own.

"Wait, you didn't have to-" She interrupts you by waving her hand.

"I'm a millionaire honey, I can manage an extra meal." She says confidently as she pulls her sunglasses out of her purse.

"The one thing I want to warn you about before we go on this trip together is that since I am one of the biggest Ceo's in the market, may I remind you I am a celebrity so I don't need any unwanted publicity because that can spiral into rumours real fast. Please refrain from telling friends and family that you will be attending this tour with me especially since you are a new assistant, people don't know you yet, only the people that work in my building know you. I know they didn't debrief you when you first came in but... being my assistant is a big deal. But I am confident in you, you seem like a good girl and you know what you're doing based on your resume."

"Oh, thank you, Ms. Lipa, I understand." You say as you nod your head and she smiles in response as she gathers her things.

"Great, let's go then, you can ride with me back to the office." She says as she puts on her sunglasses and waits for you. You quickly gather your things as well and you stand up and push in your chair. She has you walk in front of her as she guides you with her hand on your lower back, leading you outside to her black Mercedes.

She opens the passenger seat for you and you step in as she shuts the door behind you, going to the driver's side. You buckle up and watch her get into the driver's seat, turning on the engine while buckling up. It's only now do you realize how effortlessly gorgeous she is. She catches you staring as she backs up out of the parking lot and you look away quickly but she had already noticed the look on your face that she already knew so well from men looking at her but you, she thought it was different coming for you so she held back a smile as she began to drive back to the building to continue the work day.

Without a word the whole drive, you arrived at the office, she dropped you off so she could park but as you got out of the car she stopped you, her voice interrupting the silence.

"I don't mean to scare you Y/n with all of the drama of my past assistants... It would probably be best if you didn't look up anything. The media is a dark place that makes up shit all the time."

You open your mouth to respond but before you can get a word out she drives off back to her parking spot leaving you to go back to work with a million different thoughts coursing through your head.

What is she hiding?
