Emaan took her time walking through the halls of her home, wanting to put off this meeting for as long as possible. The dark wood of the walls seemed gloomier than usual as she ran her hand along it, stopping when her hand reached the oak wood door that belonged to her father's office.

She took a deep breath to calm her anger, before knocking against the solid wood, waiting patiently for a response from the men inside.

She heard her father speak on the other side of the door and assumed it was permission to come in. When she pushed open the heavy door she walked into an office completely lit by candles.

Standing in front of her father's desk was a tall man with long dark hair and a short beard that complimented his tan skin. Emaan lowered her gaze upon noticing the attractive man and kept her eyes to the floor as she went to stand next to her father at the far end of the office.

The man in front of her was also looking downward out of respect and it made her smile to herself knowing that he follows the sunnah.

"Emaan, this is Ibrahim Ahmed, he will be in charge of your safety until you are married." Her father introduced.

"Assalamu Alaikum, it is nice to meet you, Ms. Khan." Ibrahim says. She was shocked by the strong tone of his voice.

"Walaikum Assalam, nice to meet you." She replied shortly. She still did not want a bodyguard regardless of who it was.

Khalid sighed as he heard the irritated tone in his daughter's voice. "Please forgive my daughter, she believes she does not need a bodyguard." Khalid explains to Ibrahim.

"Ah, well Ms. Khan, I'm sure you can handle yourself, I am simply your back up just in case." Ibrahim tried to make light of the situation and it would have worked if Emaan didn't remember why she was still angry.

She rolled her eyes, storming out of the room and through the dark halls of the large home. Khalid sighed as he held his head in one hand and shooed Ibrahim to follow her with the other.

Ibrahim started down the hall after Emaan, making sure to keep a respectful distance between himself and the young woman.

"I did not mean to offend you, Ms. Khan." Ibrahim apologized, his voice sounding genuine as he spoke.

"I do not need your protection nor your apology." Emaan spoke angrily as she entered her room, leaving the door open so the man standing outside could still respond.

Ibrahim took his place outside of her room, back pressed against the wall that was just beside her bedroom door.

"I understand that you're upset, but I promise you that I only wish to help." Ibrahim tried to reason with her but the response he received was her door being slammed shut.

Ibrahim sighed as he looked up at the ceiling, head resting against the wall behind him, realizing that this job would be much harder with the woman being unwilling to compromise.
