didn't feel like proofreading this one! :D

I was mindlessly swaying my legs on the chair I had been slouched on for the past half hour. I haven't received a single text from Taylor, nor has a doctor come in to update us on Tyler's condition. I was itching to see him again, almost like some odd craving.

I lull my head to the side, resting it against Ben's shoulder. He jerks subtly, not expecting it, yet he doesn't inch away.

"Man...the wait is killing me." I groan and he nods in agreement.

Just then, a nurse steps into the waiting room with a stethoscope lazily draped around her neck. She scans the room before approaching the parents. I watch closely as she makes small talk with them, eventually giving her full attention to my mom.

I sit up straight, reading to jump out of my seat to see what they're talking about. Was Tyler okay? Did something happen to him? What's going on-

"Y/N L/N?"

My eyes dart over to the nurse, who is politely smiling over at me. I rise from my seat and take a step forward, "Yes?"

She walks over to me to say, "We have gone through all the mandatory diagnostics and scans. Tyler is ready for visitors."

She notices the puzzled look in my face and chuckles before adding, "He requested that you be the first."

A subtle blush appears on my face at the mention of his insistent request. It takes no convincing to get me to follow her out into the hall and toward his room.

I see Taylor and Mrs. Hernandez exit a room with relaxed faces. Taylor's eyes were still red and swollen, but her expression was far from the distressed one it had been not too long ago.

They both notice me walking a few steps behind the nurse and we exchange smiles. Taylor squeezes my arm as she walks past.

The nurse steps aside just outside the door to allow me in first. She nods for me to enter and I do so immediately. I poke my head in, getting a whiff of that hospital smell. It seemed to come off a lot stronger in the patient rooms.

I scan the bright room until my eyes land on Tyler sitting up in the hospital bed. He's already looking in my direction with an expectant look.

"Hey..." He says as I step inside.

I approach and stop just short of the edge of the bed, "How are you feeling?"

He shrugs his shoulder before draping an arm over his stomach, "Fine, I guess. I'm really confused though."

"That's understandable...I mean, you did get-"

I cut myself off, not wanting to relive that image of his impaled body. I look down at the floor and bite my tongue.

His hand finds my wrist and he tugs my arm until I'm sat on the edge of his bed, "Y/N."

I slowly look up at him, "Sorry, I'm just...I don't know."

He sighs and slips his hand into mine. He brings it up to his lips and kisses my knuckles before dropping it back down onto the stiff mattress.

"You know...the last time I saw you was seconds before I fell out of the car. Honestly...I thought you were dead. All of you."

His words cut deep into my heat and for a moment, I struggle to form a sentence. I clear my throat and squeeze his hand, "W-what made you think I was..."

He shrugs, staring off toward the window looking out into the lit-up buildings across the street,

"I just had this...gut feeling. I hated it...knowing I left you and Taylor alone like that-"
