the rain began with a gentle patter, each dropping a whisper against the young girl's skin.
As the clouds thickened, the rain grew more insistent, drenching her through her thin, hospital dress. Her frail frame shivered as the icy water cascaded down, mingling with the tears that traced silent paths down her cheeks. Her eyes, large and somber, reflected the gray overcast sky, mirroring the storm's relentless embrace.
An elderly man approached the young girl, his steps deliberate and heavy against the rain-slicked ground, invading her vision
"Do you need a place to stay?"
The old man did not need to ask; just a single glance at that little girl told him that her parents had abandoned her.

The old man neared, his outstretched hand, rough and old, reached towards her to take. With a hint of hesitation, she placed her small, trembling hand in his. He shielded her from the rain with his umbrella as they both walked together through the rainy evening, the sound of raindrops pattering softly around them.
