~~~~~
Kuch na kaho, kuch bhi na kaho
Kya kehna hai, kya sunna hai
Tumko pata hai ...
Mujhko pata hai ...
Shubman parked his car outside the college Anamika has told him and got out. He checked his hair in the rear view mirror and leaned against the door, checking his watch. 1:29, any minute now! Calm down Shub, you know Anamika. There's no need to be nervous....
He was in middle of his pep talk when he saw Anamika walking out of the building. She wore a black saree with white floral prints with a white sleeveless crop top. Her hair pinned at the sides and otherwise let down made her look every bit professional yet elegant. She noticed him and smiled, walking towards him, when he suddenly spread his arms and started
Chaand mera dil
Chandani ho tum
Chaand se hai dur
Chandani kaha....
Ignoring him, she simply took the passenger seat of the car and put her bag in the backseat. He continued...
Laut ke aana
Hai yahi tumko
Ja rahe tum
Jao meri jaan
As Shubman entered the car, he noticed a tiny smile playing on her lips. Shubman started the car and heard her say, "What the hell was that?" Between fits of laughter.
"Nothing you just look like Sushmita Sen from Main hoon na " He said shrugging.
"I'm flattered but that title stays with Sandhya. She looks dreamy in sarees."
"Okay now I can see it!" He chuckled. "How was the conference, though?"
"Great! They loved my paper. I managed to make some good contacts and the food was good. So overall it's a success!" She said, her eyes sparkling like stars.
"That's great! Now what would you like for lunch?"
"I don't know, suggest me something." She said looking for something in her bag. "Also.... Congrats skipper!" Anamika said holding out a little box in front of him, gesturing him to open it. "I didn't know what to gift you, so I just went with food" She was again fidgeting with her ring. Shubman opened the box to find dryfruit laddoos in it. "Do they go with your dietary restrictions? I mean it's just dryfruits with very little jaggery, plus they are homema-" She stopped as he held her hand to stop her fidgeting and looked at him.
"It's perfect. I like these laddoos and yes, they go with my dietary restrictions. Don't worry." Shubman said caressing the back of her hand with his thumb. "Thank you." He continued giving her hand a little squeeze and making her smile. "Now, how about we have chole bhature for lunch?" She nodded affirmatively and pulled her hand out of his grip.
Shubman started the car and took her around the city, telling her history of places and at times some of his own anecdotes. He even took her to the ground he used to train in his beginning days. Anamika didn't register when the 5 hours went by and as they were now headed to the last stop, she dreaded the moment when she'd have to leave. As Shubman pulled the car to a stop, she came out of her thoughts. They had picked up some Desi Chinese from Shubman's favourite place and he insisted that it'd better they eat it there. She didn't notice when he had gotten up from his seat and had opened the door on her side, extending a hand to help her come out. And when she kept her hand in his and finally put her feet on the ground, it wasn't just a crush anymore. It had grown to like or maybe even lo- No not going there!
