Jana woke up on her first day of school after the summer break with mixed feelings. As she got ready in her room, she thought about recent events and the challenges ahead. The encounter with Christian, who had returned from the USA the day before yesterday, had deeply affected her, and she knew that this school day would be different from the previous ones.
As she walked down the stairs, Patrick was already waiting for her. He smiled at her, but there was a hint of worry in his eyes that he couldn't completely hide. "Ready for the first day of school?" he asked as they left the house together.
"Yes, I think so," Jana replied, trying to hide her nervousness. She knew Patrick was worried, especially after the events of the last two days.
Upon arriving at school, they sought out their friends. Tabea waved to them cheerfully, while Tobias stood next to her and also gave them a smile. "Hey, you two! Ready for a new school year?" Tabea called enthusiastically.
Jana nodded and greeted her friends, but her eyes involuntarily searched for Christian. When she finally saw him talking to a few other classmates, her heart beat faster.
Classes began, and Jana tried to focus on the new teachers and subjects. But her thoughts kept drifting back to Christian. During a break, she stood at her locker with Tabea and shared her concerns.
"I don't know how I'm going to manage this, Tabea," Jana said quietly. "I still have feelings for Christian, but I also love Patrick. It's all so complicated."
Tabea placed a hand on her shoulder. "It won't be easy, but you have to be honest with yourself and with both guys. Only then can you figure out what you really want."
During lunch break, the group sat down in the cafeteria. The atmosphere was relaxed until Christian suddenly stood up and joined them. Patrick watched the situation closely, while Jana grew increasingly nervous inside.
"Hey, Jana. Can I talk to you for a moment?" Christian asked, looking directly at her.
Jana nodded and followed him outside. She felt Patrick's gaze on her back and knew he was worried. Outside the school, Christian stopped and turned to face her.
"I wanted to apologize," he began. "It wasn't my intention to put you in a difficult position."
"It's okay, Christian," Jana replied, trying to stay calm. "It was just a bit overwhelming all at once."
"I know," he said, stepping closer. "But I want you to know that I respect your relationship with Patrick. I've thought a lot about it, and I just want you to be happy."
"Thank you," Jana whispered, looking into his eyes. "That means a lot to me."
Christian smiled slightly. "I hope we can still be friends, Jana. Despite everything that happened."
"I hope so too," she said, feeling a mixture of relief and regret.
As they walked back into the school, Jana saw Patrick and Tobias deep in conversation. She knew that the coming weeks and months would be full of challenges, but she was determined to find a way to sort out her feelings and make the right decisions.
The bell rang for the next class, and Jana entered with mixed emotions. It was only the first day, but she knew the new school year would hold more than just academic tests. It would be a time of growth, discoveries, and difficult decisions that could change her life forever.
The afternoon at school was hectic as the students tried to settle back into their routines after the summer break. Jana sat in the last row of her math class, trying to focus on the lesson, but her thoughts kept drifting back to her conversations with Christian and Patrick. The door opened, and Mr. Bauer, her math teacher, entered the room. His lively demeanor captured the class's attention.
