Blake rushed to Lexi's side, his hands shaking as he untied her. "Lexi, are you okay?" he asked, his voice hoarse with worry.
Lexi looked up at him, her vision still blurry from the blow. "Blake?" she whispered, her voice filled with a mix of relief and disbelief. "You came for me."
"I'll always come for you," Blake replied, his eyes filled with emotion. "I couldn't bear the thought of losing you."
Lexi's heart swelled at his words, the depth of his feelings for her clear. As he helped her to her feet, she clung to him, her strength ebbing away now that she was safe. Blake's arms wrapped around her, holding her close, his touch both comforting and electrifying.
"We need to get out of here," Blake said, his voice gentle but urgent. "Can you walk?"
Lexi nodded, leaning on him for support. They made their way out of the warehouse, the night air cool against their skin. Blake led her to his car, helping her into the passenger seat before getting in himself.
As they drove away, the adrenaline began to fade, leaving behind a profound sense of exhaustion and relief. Lexi turned to Blake, her hand reaching out to touch his arm. "Thank you, Blake. You saved my life."
Blake glanced at her, his eyes filled with a mixture of relief and something deeper. "I couldn't do anything else, Lexi. I care about you too much to lose you."
Lexi's heart skipped a beat at his words. The connection between them, already strong, had only deepened through their ordeal. She leaned her head back against the seat, her hand still resting on Blake's arm, and closed her eyes.
For the first time in days, she felt truly safe. And as the city lights blurred by outside the window, she knew that whatever challenges lay ahead, she and Blake would face them together.
