SEPTEMBER FIRST WAS ALWAYS A CHAOTIC DAY IN THE FLEMMING HOUSEHOLD.

Now that all three siblings were leaving for Hogwarts, rather than just Addy, the chaos intensified extremely. Shouting came from the twins' bedroom, which was a travesty in itself. Even with Aiden's detailed packing list that he had created, there was no order in that bedroom. Addy's room wasn't much better. She had never been a proactive packer. Articles of clothing were askew everywhere as she tried to stuff the last bit of her belongings in her trunk, which never fit in the first place, even with the expansion charm she had placed on it.

"We are going to be late!" Aunt Elle screamed through the house as she ran up and down the corridor that held all three children's rooms. Let it be known that September 1st was one of Eleanor Hawthorne's least favorite days of the entire year.

Addy grunted as she jumped down on her trunk, allowing the top of it to sit shut as she zipped it, having to use all of her strength to get it to close. A flustered Elle ran into the twins' room, using the last bit of sanity that she had left in her to gather their things, shut their trunks, and wheel them out into the common area. The fifteen year old took one last glance around her room, no doubt forgetting something as she sighed and turned the lights off, wheeling her trunk into the living space.

"Does everyone have everything?" Elle asked as she brushed her blonde hair out of her face to reveal her red cheeks – this happened when she was flustered. All three kids nodded, but there was one thing left for Addy to do.

She could guess that her father was in no mood to accompany his kids to Kings Cross Station. This would be the third year that he hadn't done so. However, Addy was determined to at least make some sort of an attempt to get him out of bed, for no reason other than the two excited eleven year olds that stood in front of her.

"I'll be back." Addy said maturely as she walked toward the dark hallway that held her father's bedroom. It was a grim feeling that overtook her once she stood outside the door, and a hopeless one as well. She knew the answer, but that didn't stop her from trying.

Addy would do anything for the two little children that counted on her for everything.

She pushed open the door, wincing as it squeaked uncomfortably in front of her. She stepped into the dimly lit room, noting the muggy aura that came over her as soon as she stepped inside. Her father was awake, but just barely. It was 8:00am, after all.

"Dad?" Addy said in a nervous tone, announcing her entrance. She padded her feet against the floor, making her way over to his bed. Mattheo had barely moved to acknowledge her presence, but she was damn sure going to try. She shifted her weight onto the empty portion of the bed, placing her hand down on the soft beige comforter. She took in the empty area, knowing that was where her mother had taken her last breath just two short years ago.

"Aid and Ains are excited, you know?" she offered softly, hoping to get a reaction from him. She didn't. She continued anyway. "They'd really love it if you came."

A breathy sigh was all Addy got in reply, and she began to grow quite frustrated.

"This isn't fair to them, Dad." Addy told her father. "They're hurting too."
