It had been a month since their marriage, and Natasha was finally getting used to Dhawal. He wasn't at all the way she thought he was.
Mostly, he was like a kid. The smallest things made him happy. He was surprisingly strict about the sleeping arrangement and making sure he saw her first thing in the morning. Natasha had planned to spend the night at her Daama's when Dhawal's refusal pissed her off. She refused to talk to him. The rest of the family knew that they had a fight regarding Natasha going over to spend the night with her Daama, and Dhawal had refused. Finally, Amrish intervened and told Dhawal to let her go to her Daama's. It was Dahi Handi, and Natasha was going to be at Pandya Niwas for the festival.
Natasha was happy. She ignored the disappointed looks that Dhawal was sending her way.
"Thank you, Amrish Bhai." Then she rushed upstairs to room to pack.
"Mots, why did you do that!" yelled Dhawal
"Because you were being unreasonable. She is your wife. And Daama is alone. She just wanted to spend time with her Daama. And the wedding happened so quickly. She was living her life as a carefree single girl, then she got locked in the library, and then she was labeled as characterless, then being attacked by that Sundip, then rushed into marriage. She has been part of our family for about a month now. And she's made a place in all our hearts. We need to make our place in her heart, too. If she wants to go to her Daama's place for a day or two, let her. Make a place in her heart, so she doesn't want to leave you and go to her Daama's place instead wants to take you with her to her Daama's place" Amrish tried make Dhawal understand.
Dhawal shook his head and rushed upstairs to his room. Dhawal sat on the bed watching Natasha pack a small bag, and he noticed that she packed one of his t-shirts in her bag, making him smile.
"You are going to Daama's today. You will call me tonight before going to bed. Video call. You are the last person I see before I go to bed." said Dhawal
Natasha nodded.
"I need to words, Natasha," said Dhawal
"Yes, I will call you tonight. I promise." said Natasha.
"Ok. I will drop you off."
The next day, as Natasha was getting ready for Dahi Handi, Dhawal absentminded drove by and was able to see her. He was getting jealous seeing her laughing with another guy, but he couldn't say anything since Chirag was with him. Chirag was already teasing him for coming to Sadar Bazar instead of the office. Dhawal decided that he was going to be at the festival tomorrow to break the Handi.
The next day, as they were celebrating the festival. Daama was a little worried as Natasha was playing on the Dhol. Everyone was dancing and enjoying. What Natasha didn't know that Dhawal and his family were at the festival. Dhawal had come into the festival with the opposing team. It looked like Natasha was on the home team. She was excited, as she was planning to win just as she had the previous years. She was shocked to see Dhawal dancing with the opposing team.
"Dhawal, you here?" asked Natasha
"Not only me, but the rest of the family. They are with Daama." said Dhawal
Natasha looked towards Daama and saw the whole family. She timidly waved and got waves in return.
"Natasha, you will not be breaking the Dahi Handi." ordered Dhawal
"I will. Why are you even here? This is my Sabar Bazar! I have broken the Dahi Handi from the last few years, and I am not stopping this year." said Natasha
"Fine, then you will lose to your husband because your husband will be breaking the Dahi Handi." said Dhawal
With some encouragement from the family, the two were starting the competition. They had only one handi to break, so both were going to climb the human tower. Dhawal and Natasha stood across each other, looking at each other before the signal went off. Dhawal and Natasha started climbing and passed the first tier of the tower. Dhawal slipped, and Natasha was able to grab on to Dhawal.
