Chapter 2: Привет семья!

Once Krus and Rsch were done changing into the clothes that Sarv had given them, got settled into "their" (Selever's) room, and were ready for bed, they heard a knock on the door.

"Come in." Rsch and Krus say in unison, with Krus unconsciously holding onto Rsch protectively.

Emi opens the door and, alongside Demyan, walks in the room.

After giving them a short greeting, Emi stated why she and her husband were here.

"After all that's happened, we wanted to go here and stay for a bit to check on you. I hope you don't mind that."

"Not at all." Rsch says while Krus merely nods at her.

Emi smiles and nods back. "Are you two alright?"

"We'll be fine." Rsch and Krus say at the same time.

Emi looks at them in understanding. "I'm truly sorry about how all of this was hurled at you. I understand how that feels, and...it's not going to be easy for any of us to adjust, but please know that we're here if you need anything."

Krus is silent and nods at them while Rsch thanks them and lets them know that they won't hesitate to talk to them.

Emi smiles, and it's silent for a few minutes before she speaks again.

"We'll leave you two to rest now. Good night, schatje. Good night, Rschvania."

"Good night." Rsch and Krus replied as Emi walked out.

Demyan turns to them with a smile. "Like Emi said, this won't be easy for everyone. But we're here for you, okay?"

After getting an "alright" and a "thank you" from them, he chuckles and bids the two good night before also walking out of the room.

"You weren't kidding when you told me about your parents, Krusy." Rsch says to her lover. "They're very kind and welcoming."

Krus' lips twitch into a small smile, and his eyes briefly flicker to red.

At least, even in this new world, he still has some familiarity with him.

May 18, 2024...

The next morning, as Krus and Rsch went down the stairs, they noted what everyone was doing.

Chatter between Emi and Sarv could be heard from the kitchen, Selever was complaining about not getting enough sleep on the couch, and Karlijn and Demyan are conversing about something.

Krus also notes that, in contrast to the skirt, boots, and makeup that she was wearing the night before, Karlijn was barefaced and wore pink pajamas and matching slippers with fake fur.

From the corner of her eye, Karlijn notices Rsch and Krus walking in the room and smiles widely.

"Buongiorno, fratellino! Доброе утро, Rsch!"

("Good morning, little brother! Good morning, Rsch!")

"I hope you both slept well." Sarv said, also smiling as she turned to face them.

Selever and his sister, Rasazy, turned to face their grandparents, and Rsch gasped in excitement as she looked at Rasazy.

"Look at her, Krus! A perfect little girl!"

Emi and Karlijn look at each other and chuckle as Rsch immediately hugs Rasazy.

"You're just as beautiful as your mamachka (mommy)!" Rsch starts. "But I see a lot of Ruvvy in you too!"
