You know that feeling you get when you walk into your new classroom on the first day of school excited to see your friends? Well, that's not what happened to me as I walked into the year 6 classroom. I felt a bit disappointed. My BEST friend Zoe wasn't there. I was ready to hear my name and feel her hug me. But no. She wasn't there.
Instead, I was greeted by my lovely and slightly crazy teacher for this year, Mrs Teala. I looked at the only desks left that I could sit at. There was one empty sit next to my friend Ruby and two empty seats at the back of the classroom that were joined together.
I chose the ones at the back of the classroom so that Zoe could sit next to me. I put my stuff down onto one of the tables and one of my other friends, Katy walked over to me and sat down in the other desk. "I'm sorry, I'm already saving this seat for Zoe", I told her but then Ruby interrupted me. "No, I'm already saving a spot for her next to me.", she told me. "Oh", I answered back. I was very disappointed. So much for the best day ever.I saw Zoe walking into the classroom. She looked up and our eyes met. She screamed and hugged me and that's exactly what I needed. She looked at me excitedly but her face quickly changed to confusion as Ruby called her over and patted the desk next to her. "Aren't we sitting next to eachother?", Zoe asked me with disappointment and sadness in her voice. " "No, apparently you're sitting next to Ruby", I explained to her. She gave me a look of desperation, as if telling me to do something about it. "Ruby!", I called her over. She came quickly. " Zoe and I were already planning to sit next to eachother and how about Katy sits next to you instead of her?", I asked Ruby. Ruby just shrugged and let out a quiet, annoyed "whatever", and helped Katy move.
In the end, Zoe and I ended up sitting together at the very back of the classroom.
But, that's just the first day of school. Right now we are in the third term. Let's skip over to Term 2 because this is where the big things happen. (Oh zinga)
