Hey, everyone. I’m really grateful for all the reads, but I have to admit, it’s a bit discouraging to see so many views yet so few votes. I put a lot of heart into each chapter, and those votes really mean a lot—they’re a big motivator. If you enjoyed the chapter, please consider voting. It’d mean a lot to me right now.
"Hey. Is everything okay?" Heer climbs towards me as I stare at the screen with a conflicting mind.
"Yeah it's..." I sigh and direct the screen towards her as she settles next to me. The scent of her jasmine is much prominent now that she took a bath. Her wet hair falls front in strands as she reads the message.
"Bua is not well?" She asks scrunching her eyebrows, "She's in the hospital. Alone?" Her eyes widens.
"She's not my family so I wouldn't call her my bua." I say clenching my jaw remebering how she abused my Ma along with her brother.
"But..." She bites her already swollen lips from my earlier assaults.
"Nadia is alone." She kneels on the bed as my tshirt moves above her knees. My eyes tracks the inch of her delicious skin as she yanks the tshirt down.
"I don't know Heer." I sigh as I lean against the headboard, "I want to be happy that vile woman is not well and celebrate the moment but at the same time, Nadia is alone. Karan is nowhere to be seen." I scratch the back of my head, thinking of what he must be planning now, "We grew up together so I can't see myself rejoicing in her pain." I shake my head not knowing what I should do about this situation.
"That's what I lo-" She stops herself and my heart beats in an uneven staccato, "like about you." She corrects herself blushing at my expectant face.
To break off the awkwardness she puts her arms around my neck and side hugs me and I snake my arm around her waist drawing her closer.
"Your heart." She pats my chest, "It's the most precious thing about you." She kisses my cheek chastely, "You can't see others in pain even if they were the cause of your pain." She explains to me.
"That's not tru-" I start to say but she swats my chest with a cute glare.
"Learn to take a compliment." She chastises me lightly. I peck her forehead and lean my head against the crown of her hair.
This girl's the only one who likes me for who I am. She likes me not because of my money or status, it is because of how she sees me. A man who is worth more than his money. That's what I am in her eyes.
It feels good to truly be seen for who I am. My Heer does.
She straightens suddenly, "Can I suggest you something?" She breaks the side hug and looks at me curiously.
