Phil P.O.V.

"Phil!" I stopped in my tracks and turned around to see my mother in summer clothes that were suitable for Florida.

"Yeah?"

"Where are you going?"

"Just upstairs, I'm going to talk to Dan."

"Come down soon, you spend far too much time on that thing!" I just grinned at her sheepishly knowing she was right, but after all, it was my job.

"I won't be too long!" I floundered upstairs with excitement, my speed making me lose balance once or twice. I sat cross-legged on my bed with my laptop in front of me, bringing up Skype and waiting for Dan to come online. I tapped my fingers impatiently, feeling a bit nervous.

I wasn't sure why, but I always got a bit jittery before a video call with Dan; but nothing could compare to our first Skype call. Since that day I had been a million times happier. Dan just made me happy effortlessly.

It took a while for me to realise that the feelings I had for him were more than just friendship, but long story short, I was lucky enough to discover they mutual during a ride on the Manchester Eye a few years back.

I could still remember every detail of that day. The clothes we wore, the bag that was hung off my shoulder, the eye colour of the man that sat behind the desk when we paid, the colour of the sky as the sun started to set, how every strand of hair was positioned on Dan's head, all the words spoken, the speed at which my heart raced, the fear that flickered in Dan's expression which was closely followed by relief and the feeling of when we kissed for the first time.

I also loved the beauty of the simplicity of it all. The day was just an average one out with the usual visit to ShakeAway in between. We were just being us with no one else to fuss over or the worry of having to impress, because being together was more than enough.

My thoughts were interrupted by a familiar ringing coming from my laptop and I saw it was Dan trying to call me. I couldn't stop the smile that placed itself on my face and accepted it immediately, quickly fixing my shirt and hair as it started to connect.

The beautiful image that was Daniel Howell appeared on screen. We had been apart for almost a week - one of the longest times ever - and I had missed him so much despite being by his side 24/7 for some days before he left to go to London without me. I had grown so used to him being there that it was a total shock when I was alone and wanted him back immediately.

"Hey Dan!"

"Phil! Baby, how've you been?"

"I've been okay, what's it like being home alone?"

"It's weird without you. I can't wait see you tomorrow! What time does your plane get here?"

"Before 11am I think, are you picking me up?" We had already arranged plans to meet at the airport but I wanted to make sure he hadn't forgotten.

"Of course I am! How's Florida been without me?"

"Good, I wish you were here though. Hey Dan did you see if I left Lion home? I can't find him anywhere!"

"Yep, I found him on your floor," he moved out of shot for a second and came back holding the small stuffed toy to the camera. "See? I told you he would be fine. He's been keeping me company while you've been away," he smiled making my heart melt but I craved for him to only be next to me and sighed deeply and Dan frowned. "Phil? What's wrong?"

"I just miss you. It's been too long," he half-smiled and I knew he felt bad for being at the other side of the world and not being able to comfort me like he usually would.

"I'm seeing you tomorrow, it's not that far away."

"It feels like forever," I moaned and pouted which made a boy that was over 4000 miles away giggle.

"I know it does, but I promise it'll go quick. When do you leave for you plane?"

"10 hours!" I had been counting down the days until I would see him again. Not that I didn't enjoy being with my family, but as everyone knew, I was totally attached to Dan and I hated being away from him.

"Go spend it with your family then, you won't get to see them when you're back here."

"But-"

"Phil."

"I-"

"Go! You'll see me soon anyway."

"Are you trying to get rid of me?"

"No, but the sooner I fall asleep the sooner I'll see you. Oh, and can you bring the sun back with you please? It's freezing over here!"

"I'll try and negotiate with it," I laughed.

"Hurry up then, and please don't miss that plane."

"Knowing my mum we'll be there 5 hours early, stop worrying."

"Okay, well I gotta go but I'll see you tomorrow yeah? I love you!" He made a heart with his hands and I copied before waving.

"I love you too, bye Dan," he smiled one last time and the call ended.

11am couldn't come fast enough.

                                                               *  *  *

"Phil, wake up, we're here!" I gained conciousness steadily, opening one eye to see my older brother staring at me.

"Whaa-? Oh," I sat up, wincing at the stiffness my body was in and stretched to try and ease it.

I got out the plane and through the passport control as fast as I could and my way to the exit, desperate to see Dan.

Dan...

Tall...

Fringe...

Tan...

I saw a familiar mop of dark chesnut hair and my heart jumped.

"Dan!" He glanced up at the sound of his name and I suppose you could say we did the movie cliche of running into each other's arms, but I would have to admit that I loved it.

With his arms tightly around me, I felt safe. This was home.

"I missed you so much," I heard Dan say.

"I missed you too," I mumbled, just glad to be back in his embrace where we stayed for a while, forgetting about everyone else.

"Oh! You boys! He was only gone five minutes!" My mother exclaimed a few minutes later. I chuckled and pulled away from Dan but grabbed his hand, wanting to keep close to him after being so far apart. "Phil - our taxi should be waiting outside and your brother is with his friends. And here's your suitcase after you left behind," she gave me an one-armed hugged with I had to lean down to return and Dan took hold of my suitcase which I let him do without a fight since I felt too exhausted. "We'll talk to you soon. Look after him, Daniel," she said sternly but Dan just laughed, knowing that she was only joking since he had known my family for so long.

"Will do, Mrs Lester! See you later!" We waved as she left us to say goodbye to my brother and left the airport and got into our own taxi.

The ride home was silent apart from a few awkward conversation fillers with the driver and this stayed in fashion until we collasped into bed. Our legs tangled together and our bodies pressed against one another and two of our hands still linked while my other went around Dan's waist and he played with my hair.

"Goodnight," I yawned.

"Phil! You can't go to sleep yet! I haven't even had the chance to kiss you since you got back!"

"Oh yeah," I giggled but kept my eyes shut. He kissed me gently for what felt like a lifetime, but lifetime ended too soon.

"Welcome home."
