- Third Person • Alyssa focus -
Alyssa had just gotten home, her suitcase and carry-on still sitting in the middle of her living room. The apartment was dark and quiet, and all she wanted to do was lay down. It was early, around five am, and she had messaged Evangeline as she left the airport. She didn't get a response, nor did she expect one, she figured the other would be asleep anyway. She flopped down onto her sofa, sinking into the feeling of being home, and closed her eyes. Alyssa sat there for a moment, her eyes shooting open as she heard a key enter the lock of her front door.
"You called?" A familiar voice said. Thick with an English accent despite his time spent in America, he spoke softly, as if he were merely . Alyssa moved to sit in a more upright position, smiling at the man that stood sliding out of his shoes at her doorway. He was fair skinned, tall with dark brown curly hair that nestled above his glasses. He was in a grey t-shirt and plain pajama pants. He looked like he had just woken up not even twenty minutes ago.
"Yeah, I thought you'd be awake, Grey." Alyssa said, her words a groggy slur. She patted the spot beside her, signaling for him to sit.
Grey sat beside her, and she rested her head on his shoulder. "I forgot to set my alarm." He mumbled, rubbing an eye under his glasses.
"Loser." Alyssa snickered.
"Shut up," Grey frowned. "when did you get back?"
"Around four, I told you that. Do you not check your messages?"
"I didn't have my glasses on when I saw your messages." Grey snickered lightly.
The pair sat in silence for a few moments, and Alyssa closed her eyes. This was their normal.
"When do you go in for work?" Alyssa mumbled.
"Not until ten, why?" Grey looked down at her.
"Can you be the best friend ever and put my stuff away?" She opened her eyes and looked up at Grey, giving him big doe eyes.
Grey blinked, and furrowed his brows before shaking his head and tossing his head back against the sofa's cushions. "No."
"Fuck you, Grey." She said, her tone serious even though she was joking. "I've gotta fill you in, dude."
"Fill me in on what? All you did was go to your cousins wedding."
Alyssa sighed and shook her head, resting it back on his shoulder. "No, not just that, idiot."
"Cut me some slack, its five in the morning."Alyssa rolled her eyes, continuing anyway. "I met this really cute girl, I'm talking- high school crush cute. She was the photographer at the wedding and I got her number- and I actually think you'd like her, but anyway, we went out for coffee the day after. She's really cool, and I think she's kind of cyber-stalking me."
"You're a famous twitch streamer, all your social media is public, 'lyssie." Grey mumbled.
"That's literally besides the point. I told her you're a freak that goes to bed at 9:45pm on the dot and drinks coffee like it's water." Alyssa stated.
Grey sighed, not even questioning her antics. "What's her name, 'lyss?"
"Evangeline, or Eva. I call her Eva." She grinned. "I want you guys to meet sometime, I think it'd be nice."
"Have you told Bien? Or Minnie?" Grey muttered, opening an eye to look at her.
Alyssa shrugged. "No, but he's in the middle of exams, remember? And Minnie- I haven't been able to speak to her, you know. Her mom." Alyssa twirled her finger around her head, making a 'crazy' sign.
Grey sighed again, before reaching over to carefully slide from her. He stood, going over to Alyssa's bags and dragging them to her room. "Jesus fuck, Alyssa, what do you have in here? Bricks?"
"Shut up." She frowned, getting up and following him. "What're you doing?"
"Moving your stuff so you can go to bed. Duh." Grey glanced back at her. "I can't stay forever, and I can tell you didn't sleep on that flight."
"You're so caring it's gross." Alyssa frowned, before falling back onto her mattress. "Thanks."
"You're welcome." Grey snickered, putting her luggage in front of her closet, and turning to the door.
"Oh- before you go, do you think you'd be down to meet her?" Alyssa raised her head, looking at him.
Grey blinked, taking a minute before responding. "You know how I get, I'll be anxious regardless if I want to or not, but if you want me to, then I'll gladly meet her."
"Okay, bye Grey. Text me if you get bored at work." Alyssa smiled, watching him leave. She fished her phone out of the pockets of her sweatpants and checking her notifications. Still no message from Eva. She shrugged, sitting up and putting her phone to charge on her nightstand and climbing under the covers. Taken over by jetlag and exhaustion, she fell asleep almost instantly.
