Lasso sat in Evil Mildred's TARDIS. In the Doctor's TARDIS. She had reservations about reading comic books in a living being. After being assured said being liked having living things inside it, she spent as little time in the TARDIS as possible.Lasso looked up from her comic book. The wall clock said the Doctor had been gone five hours. She noted the irony of having a clock on a time machine for the tenth time. She looked back at the comic and tried to focus.
Lasso always thought of herself as a normal pony. How else could she think of herself? She was raised to love the rodeo and music. She knew murder was wrong. She was loyal to her princess. She loved all of the creatures of Equestria more than anthing else. She dated her husband for three years before marrying him. She was as normal as ponies came. She was sitting on a TARDIS waiting to stop the Saviour from killing most of the universe.
"Can you hear me?"
Lasso shook her head. "Doctor?"
"Yes. I have been yelling up to you for nearly ten minutes."
Lasso looked at the clock. She had been stuck in her own head for fifteen minutes. She understood why her princess needed her. She inherited special skills from her parents. Her mother could always see the big picture. Her mama could see small details (and still ignore them). She saw exactly what she had to do and why. She felt bad for other ponies who did not have a perfect princess.
"Lasso?"
"Yeah, Doctor?"
"We are here! Come down and help. We don't have much time before the Mildreds arrive."
Lasso hissed. The Mildreds. She knew her princesse's plan (as well as the rest of the universe) needed one of them to remain alive. She put her comic book in her saddle bag and walked out the door.
"Doctor, are we supposed to be in the middle of a battle zone?"
Big red octopie pulled themselves across the cracked ground. Large gnashing teeth reduced cars to stips of metal. Black eyes glowed through thick smoke.
The Doctor looked out of the TARDIS door. "No. I think we may be late."
"If we live through this I am killing you," hissed Lasso.
The Doctor scratched his head. "I was sure we would be on time."
"What now?"
"We find the leader of the invasion and convince him to remove his forces."
Lasso's eyes glowed green. "I think I can do that."
------------------------------------------------------------
Creatures at least twice the size of griffons stomped around the burning town. Their metal boots crushed stones into dust. They waved around cannons like they were party poppers. They fired shots of plasma into concrete buildings igniting them.
Dozens of six legged bears ran away from their giant attackers. Almost half of the colt sized bears were crushed under a metal boot. It would not take a biologist to notice the bears were small enough to fit in the buildings and nither the octopie not the bipeds were.
Lasso refused to watch the big ugly bypeds rampage. They were almost five hooves taller than her, but she was not scared. She ran out into the street wings spread and slashed into the backs of two of the creaters. She expected blood. Her wings burned.
The creatures screamed as they bled magma.
Lasso turned to smoke as quickly as she could. The damage was done. She could already tell she would not be able to move her wings for weeks.
The bipeds fired their plasma cannons at the cloud of smoke to no effect.
