Chapter 3

Kim's transportation, one of the top transportation business in the world, a continuously achieving company with unstoppable strong work force, also known for the amazing employer community. Owned by non other than the most handsome, thriving man, Kim Seok-Jin.

It is a beautiful day, the sky clearer than ever, a sweet little breeze of wind, the sun warm and bright but still cold enough to let others know winter isn't over yet. Today was an important day, the result day for the ranking of the top companies that repeatedly take place this time of the year. The company building stood tall among the busy city, the luxuriousness of the building shining bright from outside. The mood of the surroundings still contrasted against everything, the anticipation was so strong it could cut air.

"Giddy up everyone, sir will arrive soon. Wipe that frown off all your faces!" A handsome blonde man shouted in a thick British accent gaining everyone's attention. 'The backbone', he was known as, as long as he is here, it's impossible to feel sad or discouraged. He is also Jin's personal assistant - Kyle. "We know how hard sir has worked to try and get in the top three but--" one of the worker said, Kyle cleared his throat, looking away as a car stopped right in front of the enormous gates. Recognizing his sir's car he rushed towards it, while opening the tab to today's work schedule in a tablet.

"Sir, today we have a meeting with the--" Kyle was cut off by Jin as he asked. "Tell me about the ranking first, what place did we get?" walking ahead towards his cabin, nodding at his employer's greetings. Hearing no reply from his PA he turned around, halting in his track. "I'm sorry sir, we didn't get the top 3rd place." Kyle said looking down. Bottling up his emotions Jin turned back, his hard work, many sleepless nights, all went in vain. "It's ok! We can try again next year." opening his cabin door expecting dead silence as usual, the office was filled with cheers and confetti. As an image was displayed on the screen showing the rankings of 'the top transportation companies of 2024'. The second placed owned by 'Kim Transportation'.

"Sorry for the prank sir, but technically we didn't lie as you were thriving for the third place." Kyle said standing next to him. Jin knocked his head saying, "Stupid fellow, pull these naughty pranks of yours again, you will find your monthly bonus flying away." Their friendly relationship known by others throwed them in a fit of laughter. "Thank you guys. You all worked so hard!"Jin expressed gratitude as one shouted "Sir, dinner tonight is on you then." Another burst of laughter abrupted, chuckling he replied, "For sure, but I won't be joining, enjoy!"

~In Jennie's company~

"Sera, please stay back, let's talk!" Jennie said as others made their way back. "Yes, Jen? Is it anything important?" Jen, a sweet little nickname her closed ones call her. "Well important but not serious important." Jen replied just to find Sera looking dumbfounded. "Aish, I just wanted to invite you for dinner nothing else. Everyone will be there, even Tae. It's been so long since we had a family dinner all together so...." Jennie said feeling nervous, knowing what she might ask. "Will he be there? Uncle?" Sera asked to earn a hum from her so she continued, "Also Jen I am so happy you decided to include me in your family dinner but you know so well I am not one of your family so I'm sorry, I wont come." Sera grabbed her laptop, looking ready to leave the meeting room. "What are you on about? Of course you are our family, bloodline or not, we don't give a crap. You are our family and you are coming that is final." Jennie stated blocking her way.

"But Jen--" Sera started but Jennie interrupted her. "No buts. I know you are refusing because dad will be there. You two seriously have to have a talk and get rid of all your drama. See you at 7, bye!" With that Jennie left the meeting room. "This stubborn kid!" Sera said out loud sighing, "I'm not a kidddd" whined Jen who was peeking back inside the room and ran away leaving Sera in a chortle mess.

~In Kim's mansion~

"I can never stop being amazed of how great this house is!" Sera thought, ringing the door bell. "She's here go open the door." a muffle sound was heard from inside, in an instant Jin opened the door with a flustered face, spatula in hand, wearing an apron over a casual wear. "Uh- hi..! I was making some final dishes with Jisoo." he said embarrassed. "You look so cute Jinnie!" She said with a sweet smile ruffling his hair and walked inside while our poor boy was frozen with a million butterflies dancing around him. "Seraaaaaa!!!!" "Unnieeee!!!!" Jisoo and Sera shared a big tight hug after seeing each other for so long. "You forgot us, huh? You naughty brat!"Jisoo said hitting Sera'a bum with a spatula lightly. "Owiee!! I'm sooo sorry, I was so busy!" Sera replied pouting. "Jennie, do you give her a lot of work?" Jisoo asked Jennie who was eating popcorn while watching tv with her legs crossed, sitting on the sofa. "Whatt? Mee? Noo!" She shouted while munching on her snack. "My ears, quite down Jen!" Jin remarked walking in."I'll go call dad, Tae will be here soon as well." Jen declared jumping from the sofa, running up the stairs. Just a few minutes later, the bell rung, indicating Taehung's arrival.

"Thank you for joining us today Sera!" Mr. Kim thanked her by passing her more food on her platter. "I wanted to come anyway, no need to thank me, uncle Ji-hoon!" Sera replied eating the food he passed for courtesy. Mr. Kim was seated on the head of the table, Jisoo to his right side of the table with Jennie. Jin, Sera and Tae to his left. "The food is amazing, thank you for inviting me, I will leave now." Sera took her bag, ready to leave after the dinner. "Already? Sera, stay a bit more." Jennie said hugging her tight, not wanting to leave her. "I'm so tired Jen, I will come another day, I promise." she said patting Jen's head. "I will drop you off!" Tae said getting his keys when urgently Jisoo said. "NO! I mean Tae you should stay a bit more. Dad wanted to talk with you about the business, oppa will drop her off, right oppa?" Jisoo asked turning towards him with a smile, talking with her eye to go drop her off. "Huh? Oh- right! I will get my keys." Jin uttered, struggling up from his chair in a rush.

~In his car~

"Um, so how have you been?" Jin asked, looking ahead while driving. "Just usual boring routine." She replied resting her head against the window. The silence once again enveloped them untill Jin broke it. "Oh, where is your car btw?" He asked trying to get the conversation going. "I don't know what happened to it all of a sudden, I gave it to repair. Oh my god, I totally forgot! " Sera took out a little box. "Here you go, a little present for your success." Opening the box, it was a fancy watch inside. "Sera, how did you know? And the watch it's too much." He said surprised "Of course I know Jin-ah, give me your hand I will put it on for you." Jin managed the steering with his right while giving his left hand to her. She wore him the watch, which looked perfect for him, "Thank you!" he said. "Ayy don't thank me, It's just a congratulations gift." They shared a short eye-contact. It would've been an ethereal moment if Jin's curiousness wasn't eating him away. "I know this might be a private thing to ask, but what happened with you and dad? As long as I remember you two had the dad and child charisma more than us." he fiddled with the steering wheel being stopped at a red light. "I- Do you want me to tell you the truth?" She asked looking out the window, not wanting to keep eye-contact admitting something she is ashamed for. "Of course I want the truth Sera, what is it?" Getting even more curious he asked. "Honestly, I don't know, more like I don't even remember. "

Jin pulled up his car to her house. "Thank you, for the ride Jin. Why don't you come here in Saturday, we can hang out its been a long time" She asked getting out of the car. "Why not, see you there! Bye!" And Jin took off on his way back.

Getting inside her house she was startled to see someone there. "How did you get inside? " She asked smirking seeing that certain someone.
