Pre Season Interview

────── · · ୨୧ · · ──────

The studio was abuzz with activity as Lucky settled into her seat for her pre-season interview. The bright audio lights framed her face like a halo, her warm smile putting the crew at ease as they set up for the interview. She brushed a strand of her hair away from her face, the light capturing a sparkle in her eye. The producers exchanged glances, knowing they had found a star.

"Alright, Lucky, we're ready to roll," the producer called out, giving her a thumbs up. "Let's starts with the basics, tell us about yourself."

Oh, how she hated to be perceived.

"Hey, y'all! I'm Clover Devereux, but everyone calls me Lucky," she began, her voice carrying the melodic blend of her Southern roots. "I'm 24, a Scorpio through and through, born and raised in the heart of New Orleans."

She spoke animatedly about her hometown. "New Orleans has this incredible energy that you just can't find anywhere else, I've tried. The music, the food, the culture──it's everything. I did spend some time in Houston, though, but New Orleans has always been home."

The producer leaned in, curiosity evident. "Houston, interesting. What brought you there?"

Lucky's smile wavered slightly, "I moved to Houston for my ex-fiancé," she said slowly, carefully choosing her words. The wound was still fresh, and the last thing she wanted to do was give him any power over her publicly. "We were planning a life together...but, I was one page and he was on another, y'know?"

          "Sounds like a tough situation."

          Tough was an understatement.

She forced a small, tight lipped smile, clearly wary of how the story might be used by them for the show. "It was a really difficult time for me. I decided to move back to New Orleans to heal and focus on my music."

The producer nodded, noticing her hesitation, and began to shift the conversation. "Your music must be a big part of your healing process."

That seemed to do the trick as Lucky's face lit back up with genuine warmth. "Oh, absolutely. Writing and performing is just my way of processing my emotions. It's like my form of therapy."

The producer nodded thoughtfully. "And given all that you've been through, what does love mean to you now?"

Lucky's eyes softened, and she leaned forward slightly, as if sharing a secret. "I'm a bit of a hopeless romantic, to be honest. I believe in fairy tales, grand gestures, and soulmates. It's probably why I've written so many songs about it."

Her voice softened as she continued, all eyes in the room trained on her. "Love, to me now, is about finding someone who sees you for who you truly are and loves you anyway. Flaws and all. Despite all my setbacks, I still believe in love──as corny as that might sound. It's about taking risks and being vulnerable, even when it's scary."

She paused, her smile growing more confident. "And honestly, that's why I decided to join Love Island. Sometimes you have to take a leap of faith to find what you're looking for. That's what I'm hoping to find here──love that's real, deep, and enduring."

The crew exchanged glances, clearly impressed by her sincerity.

With a final, heartfelt smile, Lucky looked directly into the camera. "So that's a little bit about me. I'm Lucky, stay tuned and wish me luck!"

She gave a small, confident smile, waving into the camera as it zoomed out. The lights dimmed slightly, signaling the end of her interview. As Lucky stood up, the crew exchanged approving nods.

          She would be perfect.
