Twelve Years Of Sunsets

In a dimly lit, chilly room, a man sits hunched in the corner of his room, clutching a piece of paper tightly in his hand. An envelope, containing a letter. As he reads the words inscribed on the paper, "...It looks like our story ends here... Please take great care of yourself... and most importantly her... Don't forget me... I love you two so much..."  tears welled up in his eyes and trickled down his cheeks. The sound of a baby's cries emanates from a crib in the room, causing him to hastily brush away his tears, returning the letter to the envelope and placing it delicately on the nearby table with a sliding cabinet.

Moving towards the crib, he notices a scarlet red scarf lying next to the baby. Carefully lifting the baby into his arms, he begins to hum softly, hoping to soothe the infant's distress. "I'm so sorry... I was... too late..." his voice falters as he clasps the baby close, continuing to hum the baby's favorite lullaby. Gradually, the baby's cries subside, replaced by a delighted giggle as she reaches out to touch her father's soft black hair. Looking down at his baby daughter, he smiles softly. "You're as beautiful as your mother. I vow to protect you with all my being, no matter what. I will always be here for you, my precious princess." The man swaddled the baby one more time, tenderly put her back in the crib, and got the red scarf close to her. He strolled close to his bed and sat on the floor in the corner of the bed embracing the ruddy scarf firmly. "It's been a month my darling... and I miss you so much... I hope I can see you once more.. just one final time..." his voice cracked, covering his eyes with the scarf, and wailed to sleep with a heavy heart.
