"Welcome, Flora!" Sage grinned, letting her into his bedroom.
Flora felt butterflies as she took his hand and he showed her around his room. She wanted to soak everything in. She had read once that seeing someone's bedroom was like seeing into their soul. She looked at everything, from the walls, to the floor, to his bed. There were movie posters on the wall, his grey jacket that she always sees him wearing on his desk chair, plants on his window seal, a maroon duvet on his bed, and she could see the white and black plaid sheets peeking out from underneath.
"Here's my desk, I've got my PC set up and everything on it. You can look at my stuff real quick, I'm gonna go to the bathroom real quick."
"Okay!" Flora couldn't help smiling to herself. She couldn't believe she was in Sage's room for the first time! She looked at the things on his desk, the little figurines, the pens in his pen cup. His PC setup was really cool, and although it was off, Flora was sure the wallpaper he had would be cool too. Flora picked up a journal Sage had, she recognized it as one she had bought for him. She wasn't snoopy enough to look inside, but she noticed something else. Underneath the journal was a pile of white envelopes. Flora immediately recognized them as the letters she had wrote for Sage when they had first started hanging out more and became closer friends. Flora counted the letters. There were 7 in total. Flora smiled to herself and sat down at the desk chair, opening the envelope on top and reading the top of the letter inside."Dear Sage,
I'm so glad we're friends! I really had fun today when we went to the aquarium together. You made me laugh so much I think I probably embarrassed myself in front of everyone around us... "It was that day when Flora noticed that she might have strong feelings for Sage. After that day, she started thinking about him more. She didn't tell him any of this of course. Flora carefully closed the letter and put it back inside the envelope. She started reading the letters that came after that as well.
"Dear Sage,
I hope you're doing well, I'm writing this in the coffee shop. It's so slow today, I really wish you were working here today...""Dear Sage,
I've been thinking about you! How's your sister? I really liked meeting her, I hope she likes me too! I wonder if your sister would want to be friends with my little sister...""Dear Sage,
I had a dream about you last night! In the dream, we were talking at this old diner and eating. There was this vintage jukebox and claw machines! It really felt like you were actually in my dream...""Dear Sage,
Thank you for the flowers! They're so, so gorgeous and smell so lovely. I'm really surprised butterflies haven't been following me around today...""Dear Sage,
Hi Sage! I added more songs to our playlist, I hope you like them! I was thinking, next time we watch movies at your house, we should watch old hollywood movies! I think we'd have fun..."Flora opened up the last letter slowly, wanting to soak it all up. She felt her heart thump as she looked at the words written in nervous cursive.
"Dear Sage,
It's been one year since we started hanging out in person..."Flora wiped a tear away from her cheek. Flora remembered when she wrote this letter. She realized she had stopped when they started dating.
"...A whole year, and I haven't grown tired of you or been bored a single minute we've shared. Isn't that so wonderful? I think you're so wonderful. I have a secret to tell you..."
Flora giggled to herself out loud. She was such a goofball, such a romantic, such a cheesy girl.
"...From the moment I first met you, I knew we would have a special friendship. I knew there was something special about you! From the first time I heard your voice, I can distinctly remember being so intrigued by it. When I first saw your face, I remember thinking 'Wow, this is a handsome guy!' And when I first met you in real life, I remember how shaken I felt, the way I trembled; Even my voice felt so small in comparison to yours! And ever since then, you haven't left my mind or my heart. You are so amazing and such a strong person, and I'm proud for how much you've grown in the past few years since we've met! I feel like there's poetry in my heart since I've met you."
