Nate's POV
8:59 AM (Same day)
I round the corner, coming into view of Café Contigo and it's shiny windows. The sun hurls white flashes into my eyes as I remove my helmet, and I blink them away.
Bronwyn.
I can tell instantly where she is by the swing of her gorgeous hair. I don't even need to see her face- which is lit up with laughter but hard with concentration- to tell that it's her.
Before I walk in, I want to just stand here and drinking in the sight of her, guard down. She's focussing on something, and that weird skinny kid- Knox Myers- is there, with her. The pretty, ginger-haired waitress that's always hanging around is leaning over someone's table, frozen.
What's happening?
And then I see Maeve, standing in the middle of the café, in front of... Luis? What?!
I push open the door, and the little bell jingles. It feels like sunshine has entered my world again as I see Bronwyn's face light up and she almost chokes on her coffee. I almost loose my footing. Running my hand through my hair, pushing it out of my eyes.
A pang of jealousy hits me hard.
Why can't that be me and Bronwyn, flirting in the middle of a café? Why can't anyone understand that I love her?
I walk over to her table, sitting next to her. "What the hell is going on here?" I mutter as I slide across to be at her side. "Maeve's trying not to faint in front of Luis." Bronwyn replies, and I suppress a snort.
I search for appropriate words, but nothing really comes to mind, so I land on, "Good luck, Maeve," Just to play it safe.
For some reason, I don't want the silence to stretch on, so I talk instead. "So, should we intervene, or just let it play out?" I watch the two of them. Maeve is stammering something I can't hear, but Luis is smiling.
"Let it play out," Bronwyn replies with a slight smirk. "It's more entertaining this way."
I laugh at her confident tone. She's so pretty when she's concentrating. I shoot her a grin, and she softens.
"Want some alfajores?" Luis voice snaps me out of my trance, but I don't hear Maeve's reply. I'm already sucked into the way Bronwyn gazes at her sister with such adoration. I wish she would look at me like that.
Maeve and Luis walked to the counter, but my eyes are still lingering on Bronwyn. She turns her gaze to meet mine, and we share a knowing look. "You think they'll ever figure it out?" I mutter.
Bronwyn snorts. "Maybe. But who knows? They're just getting started." She replies as Maeve walks over to us. Her face is flushed and she's grinning like crazy.
I mentally sigh as I begin to stand so Maeve can take her spot next to her sister, but I feel a her hand slip into mine and pull me down. I mask my surprise in a cough and pretend like nothing happened.
Do you want me, too?
