"Family is not always about blood.
It's about who is willing to hold your hand
when you need it the most."

The morning was cloaked in fog, the kind that blurred the edges of the Valens' sprawling estate and softened the early light filtering through the trees. The gentle chirping of birds hinted at the slow approach of winter. In the cozy dining room, Mr. Valens and Mrs. Valens sat at the breakfast table, a routine they had cherished for years. Mrs. Valens, sipping her tea, glanced up as a familiar voice broke the tranquility.

"Good morning, Mom," Elena greeted as she entered, her breath slightly visible in the cool air. Fresh from her morning jog, she wore a blue tracksuit that highlighted her natural beauty, untouched by makeup. Her presence was like a fresh petal among the dew.

Elena was more than just a daughter-in-law; she was family. After the tragic death of her parents in an accident, Mr. and Mrs. Valens had taken her in. When they insisted that their younger son Sameer marry her, he reluctantly agreed but left the country immediately after signing the marriage agreement.

Mrs. Valens smiled warmly at Elena, while Mr. Valens gave a gentle nod of acknowledgment. Elena returned their gestures before making her way to the grand staircase, an architectural marvel of the house.

The staircase was a centerpiece of luxury, with intricately carved railings and gleaming marble steps that sparkled under the chandelier's glow. It led to a wide hallway that branched into three distinct wings, each belonging to one of the Valens' sons. These wings were like self-contained homes, with three spacious rooms, a private lounge, and a lush garden at the back, providing each family with privacy and comfort. The house, in its grandeur, was a perfect showcase of the Valens' wealth and status.

After freshening up, Elena chose a red chunri frock, handmade by a famous Indian designer. Her father's roots were in India, and she had visited the country often since childhood, developing a deep love for Indian attire. This particular dress, ordered online from Rajasthan, was one of her favorites. She applied a touch of makeup, accentuating her look with dramatic red lips, and made her way back to the breakfast table.

As she approached, she saw her brothers-in-law, Arman and Selim, and their wives, Leyla and Aylin, already enjoying their meal. Mrs. Valens was busy instructing the maid about Aylin's diet, given that Aylin was expecting a baby after four years of marriage with Selim. The family was overjoyed with the news. Leyla, on the other hand, was not yet interested in having children.

Mr. and Mrs. Valens were doting parents and in-laws. Mrs. Valens had always wished for daughters, and though she was blessed with three sons, she treated her daughters-in-law as if they were her own.

Elena's heart swelled with love and gratitude as she joined the family. The affection she had received from the Valens over the past three years was beyond anything she had imagined for an orphan like her. She seldom missed her parents because her in-laws' love filled that void.

As she settled at the table, smiling to herself, Leyla spoke up. "Elena, I like your outfit. You look stunning."

Aylin nodded in agreement. "Where did you get that dress?" she asked, her curiosity piqued.

Elena smiled, happy to share. "I ordered it online from Rajasthan. I love adding Indian outfits to my wardrobe whenever I can."

They all nodded, familiar with Elena's penchant for Indian fashion. Aylin's eyes sparkled with interest. "I've always admired how you incorporate your heritage into your everyday style. It's so unique and vibrant."

Elena beamed. "Thank you. My father was from India, and ever since I was a child, I've had a deep connection with the culture. Wearing these outfits makes me feel closer to my roots."

Leyla leaned in, her voice curious. "Do you have more outfits like this? I'd love to see them sometime."

Elena nodded enthusiastically. "Absolutely. I have quite a collection. Each piece has a story, and I'd be happy to share them with you."

As the conversation flowed, Elena felt a warm sense of belonging. The Valens family had embraced her culture as part of their own, making her transition into their world seamless. Even Selim, who was usually reserved, chimed in. "Elena, you should consider showcasing your collection. I bet many would be interested in seeing such beautiful designs."

Elena's eyes lit up at the suggestion. "That's a wonderful idea. Maybe I could organize a small exhibition or a cultural night. It would be a great way to celebrate and share the beauty of Indian traditions."

The family members exchanged excited glances, already envisioning the event. "Count me in," Aylin said with a smile. "It sounds like a perfect way to spend an evening."

Leyla nodded in agreement. "Absolutely. And we can invite some friends and make it a grand affair."

As they continued discussing the possibilities, Elena felt a surge of joy. This family, her family, had not only accepted her but also cherished her heritage. It was a feeling she had longed for, one that made her heart swell with gratitude and love.

Despite the shared excitement, there was one person notably absent from the conversation—Sameer. Unlike the rest of the family, he had never been around to witness Elena's Indian ensembles or participate in the lively family discussions. His absence was a shadow over an otherwise bright morning.

As Elena glanced around the table, a part of her couldn't help but wish Sameer were there to see her, to see how well she fit into his family. Yet, she reminded herself that she was surrounded by love and acceptance. Even though Sameer had distanced himself, the rest of the Valens family had embraced her fully, filling her life with warmth and joy.
