"Stay strong, don't let your heart get in the way of your head. But remember to be happy. I'm sorry I had to go before I could finish explaining. Take this key. Keep it safe. When it comes time it will lead you to the right place." These final words rang in my head as I watched my mother die in my arms her last breath being "I love you". This was it. The day we knew was coming came all too soon and my mother was dead.
"You knew a day like this would come along with the business your mother was in. The only reason you're not dead too is I wasn't given the order to kill you too. Well, I best be on my way. We'll see eachother again eventually." The killer said as he walked away. In a fit of rage, I hastily grabbed my mother's gun out of its holder and shot three shots after him. Two went right past his head, the third grazing his arm giving him a nice cut.
"Hm. Not as good of a shot as your mother huh? Well as she was..." he snickers as he continues to walk away
"I wasn't trying to kill you. That was a warning. Get the fuck out of here or i won't miss the next one." I yell at him, feeling my head get hot with anger and rage. He simply nods and waves his hand behind him before running off. I growl at him and as soon as i'm sure that he was gone, I fall back to my knees and break down into a fit of tears. I looked down at her hand and noticed something shiny sticking out of the now weak fist she was making. I open her hand and find a locket necklace. It was the same one that I had given her for her birthday that year. Inside the heart locket I knew was two pictures. On the left was a picture of me, so that when it opened i would be the closest one to her heart. On the right was a picture of her and my father before he passed away. I never really knew him that much. He died when I was 13 but he wasn't around much before then, always being busy with work. Even so, I know my mother still loved him with all her heart and missed him greatly. I pick up the locket and put it around my neck. "I promise I will avenge your death." I whisper under my breath.
