CHAPTER 03. Magic

FOR THE FIRST TIME SINCE MANY YEARS, Charolotte woke up with a good night's sleep and without any back pain. At first when she woke up, she thought it was a dream, but after minutes of lying in bed without doing nothing, she realizes it's not a dream.
She glances outside the open balcony through the windows, the sun is shining brightly with clouds covering the whole sky. The trees outside of the window are moving gently because of the wind.
As she yawn stretching her arms the door to her room opens, as she glances towards the door Harmony enters with a pair of clothes in her arms. "Oh, your awake darling" Charlotte hums.
"Just woke up, it feels so good to have a good night's sleep" Charlotte says glancing down at the bed sheets covering her legs. "Where's Jesper?" Charlotte blurts out and immediately feels embarrassed.
"Don't be embarrassed darling, he was just as ecstatic as you to wake up, he kept pestering me again and again, whether you woke up or not" Harmony chuckles as she sits on the bed.
"Oh." Charlotte replies dumbfounded. He wants to see me? Thinks Charlotte. "Hmm, now how about you go and have a nice hot bath, and brush your teeth, then we can have some breakfast" Suggests Harmony with a soft smile.
"Oh and these are Jespers old clothes, they've gotten too small for him to wear, just for this day darling, after a small breakfast, we'll go to buy you some new clothes, which actually fir you. And place your clothes in the laundry basket just beside the sink in the washroom" Harmony says as she places the clothes in Charlotte's arms.
After two minutes of talking, Harmony leaves the room. Charlotte then gets up and places the clothes on the vanity beside the bed and adjusts the bed as it was before she went to bed.
She then goes to the washroom and brushes her teeth, though she gets a bit confused on which direction to turn the tap for water to come. After brushing her teeth (with her mouth no longer smelling; she still wonders how Jesper and Harmony and Jeremy talked to her the whole yesterday), she steps into the shower
First she removes her shirt while gasping as the shirt was practically stuck to her skin. Her whole back looked horrible, with whips marks shaped liked Criss crosses were all over her back. There were a few scars which looked like knife marks, and there was 'EXPERIMENT 2023914' on her lower back was "WSLY" carved.
She sighed and turned on the shower, and gasped then whimpered when the water fell down on her back and the scars stung. She used the vanilla scented shampoo to rinse off her hair and cleaned her whole body and felt very refreshed.
She felt...clean. She tied a towel around herself after gently cleaning on her scars and drying her hair. She still gasped and groaned whenever something came in contact with the horrible whip marks on her back and knife marks on her front side.
She looked at the clothes on the drawer which were given by Harmony. The clothes were very simple really, it was a nice navy blue shirt with star designs on it and a pair of Black pants. She wore the clothes quickly and they were very soft.
After dressing up, she was startled by a knock on her window, she snapped her head to the window to see an barn owl perched atop the window. Without knowing what to do she just stared at the window and at the owl in confusion.
Just then the door to the bedroom opened and Jesper came in. "Hey Charlotte ! why are you so spooked?" Jesper aked surprised as his sister stood still like a statue., Charlotte shakily raises her hand and points towards the window.
"Oh" Jesper exclaims with wide eyes and a small happy glint in his eyes. "Don't worry Charlotte, I'll take care of it" he replies and goes towards the window, the owl slides in through the window and settles itself on his shoulder.
Jesper smiles and takes the letter which was tied to it's leg and pats the owl's head. The owl hoots as Jesper says, "I'll send a letter back, you can go sweetheart" The owl hoots again and flies away out of the window.
Then Jesper faces his attention back to Charlotte, "I'm sure you must be surprised but first let's go downstairs and I'll explain everything" CHarlotte nods at Jespers words still shocked and follows Jesper out of the room to the dining hall where Harmony and Jeremy were sitting while laughing with each other.
"Charlotte darling you came-Why're you so upset !?" Jeremy says noticing Charlotte's shocked face. Jesper just raises his arm showing the letter and both Jeremy and Harmony who gasp and smile.
"What's happening ? And why was there a owl at my window" Charlotte asks as she finally settles at the table along with Jesper,Jeremy and Harmony. "Well there is a lot to tell, who do you want to explain it to you?" Harmony asks.
"Uhh, Jesper ?" Charlotte says quietly while her pale cheeks turned a dark red shade. Jesper looked shocked for a minute before smiling brightly. "Of course ! Look at that mum, Cherry likes me more than you !" Jesper says cheekily.
"Yeah, yeah I know that Jesper, now tell Charlotte the reason" Harmony says pointedly. Jesper sighs, "Look Charlotte is it alright If I call you Cherry" When Charlotte nods he continues.
"Well Cherry, we have something everyone is familiar with on T.V screen called Magic, in a sense to say we are Wizards. We can do magic, something which many can't, we have special blood in our veins and we have a magical core which allows us to do supernatural things. By using a wand we can do things like Pyrokinesis, read people's minds, levitate things. We can even do it without a wand, but that's a discussion for later. Simply to say, your a witch Cherry" Jesper summarizes with a smile.
"A witch ?" Cherry asks eyes wide.
"Yes a witch, and i'm a wizard, Mum and Dad are also wizards, with Dad is what we call a pureblood wizard meaning his parents and great-grandparents, till three generations have possessed magic, mum is muggle-born witch which means she is the first witch in her family. SInce one of our parents is a pureblood and other is a muggleborn, we are half bloods. Half-blood means, we have a magical parents and the other may be non magical or a muggleborn or even a half blood" Jesper explained.
"That's a lot to process" Charlotte says but then with a calculated look o her face she asks, "So that mean's i'm a muggle born witch ? SInce I don't know who my parents are ?"
"In a sense yes, but if we blood adopt you you'll be a part of our family and you will be considered as a half-blood" Harmony replies.
"Wait what does blood adoption mean ?" Charlotte asks tilting her head. Jesper cooed internally at her innocent look and it remind him of his best friend's younger brother who had the same look and age as Charlotte did.
"Blood adoption is a branch of blood magic, which uses a person's blood and alters the person't appearance fit into the person whose blood is used. Do you want to be blood adopted Cherry ?" Jeremy asks.
Charlotte hesitates before she blurts out, "I would like that". Jeremy smiles at her and so does Harmony.
