Resistance
The bond that tied Seokjin and Jungkook together had become an unwelcome weight, pressing on them both day and night. Determined to resist, they buried themselves in their respective worlds, hoping that by immersing themselves in their duties, they could sever the connection—or at least dull its ache.
Seokjin tightened his grip on the edge of his desk, his knuckles turning white. The past few weeks had been an exercise in frustration and restraint. The usual smooth running of "Eclipse" now felt like a series of distractions meant to keep his mind off Jungkook.
"Seokjin," his right-hand man, Yoongi, spoke up, pulling Seokjin from his thoughts. "The meeting with the council is about to start. Are you ready?"
Seokjin took a deep breath, forcing his mind to focus. "Yes. Let's go."
The council meetings were a necessary evil, a chance to ensure the vampire clan's interests were protected. Tonight, however, his thoughts kept straying to a certain werewolf omega. He couldn't afford to show weakness, especially not now.
As the meeting progressed, Seokjin found it increasingly difficult to concentrate. The council members discussed various strategies and alliances, but his mind was elsewhere. Finally, one of the elders, an imposing figure with centuries of experience, noticed his distraction.
"Seokjin," the elder said, his voice sharp. "Is something troubling you?"
Seokjin straightened, masking his turmoil with a façade of confidence. "No, Elder. Everything is under control."
The elder’s eyes bore into him, but Seokjin held his gaze. After a moment, the elder nodded, and the meeting continued. But Seokjin knew he had to get a grip on himself. His position demanded it.
Across town, Jungkook was dealing with his own struggles. His academic performance, once impeccable, had started to slip. His professors noticed, and his friends were growing concerned.
"Jungkook, you’ve been so distracted lately," Jimin said, his tone a mix of worry and curiosity. "What’s going on?"
Jungkook sighed, running a hand through his hair. "It's nothing, Jimin. Just a lot on my plate."
"You can talk to me, you know," Jimin pressed gently. "We’re friends."
Jungkook appreciated the concern but couldn't bring himself to explain the truth. How could he? The bond with Seokjin was a secret he intended to take to his grave.
In addition to his academic struggles, Jungkook faced increasing pressure from his pack. Taehyung, an alpha, had noticed his declining performance during training and had taken him aside more than once.
"Jungkook, you need to focus," Taehyung said sternly after yet another lackluster session. "Your position in the pack is important. We rely on you."
"I know, Taehyung," Jungkook replied, frustration evident in his voice. "I'm trying."
"Trying isn't enough," Taehyung retorted. "We need you at your best. Whatever is distracting you, handle it."
Jungkook nodded, the weight of his responsibilities pressing down on him. But no matter how hard he tried, the bond with Seokjin loomed over everything.
Both Seokjin and Jungkook faced increasing scrutiny from their respective societies. The vampires, ever vigilant, were quick to notice any sign of weakness in their leader. Seokjin's momentary lapses in focus raised questions and whispered doubts among the ranks.
"Have you heard? Seokjin seems... distracted lately," one vampire whispered to another.
"Do you think something’s wrong?" another replied, concern lacing their voice.
Seokjin was aware of the murmurs and did his best to quell them. He couldn't afford to show any vulnerability, not when so much was at stake.
For Jungkook, the pressure came from both his academic peers and his pack. His professors expressed their disappointment in his recent performance, urging him to regain his focus. Meanwhile, his packmates began to question his commitment.
"Jungkook’s been off lately," one packmate said during a run. "Do you think he’s okay?"
"He better be," another replied. "We can’t afford to have an omega who can’t pull his weight."
The criticism stung, but Jungkook knew they were right. He had to find a way to resist the bond, to reclaim control over his life.
Despite their best efforts to avoid each other, fate had other plans. One evening, while Jungkook was on a run with his pack, he found himself in the same abandoned alley where they had first discovered their bond. This time, Seokjin was there, seemingly by chance. The air between them crackled with tension.
"Seokjin," Jungkook said, his voice low and wary.
"Jungkook," Seokjin replied, his eyes dark with unresolved conflict. "I didn't expect to see you here."
"Neither did I," Jungkook muttered, his heart pounding.
They stood there, the silence thick with unspoken words. The bond between them pulsed, demanding recognition, but neither was willing to give in.
"This bond," Seokjin began, his voice tight, "it's making us weak. We need to fight it."
"I know," Jungkook replied, his own voice strained. "But how?"
Seokjin took a step closer, his eyes searching Jungkook's. "We need to stay away from each other. Completely."
Jungkook nodded, though the thought of never seeing Seokjin again filled him with an inexplicable sorrow. "You're right. It's the only way."
With a final, longing look, they turned and walked away, each step feeling like a betrayal of their very souls. The bond, however, remained, a stubborn reminder of a connection neither could escape. And as they resumed their lives, the resistance continued, each passing day a testament to their struggle against fate.
