Let's Play a Game

"Piiiiiin, c'mon already! Everyone else is already in the lobby and I'm getting boooooored!"

"For the last time, Coiny, I'm working on it! I told you to just hold on!"

"I have been holding on! Hurry up!"

Location: Lobby

Time: Pre-game

Pin (in her bright Red space suit) finally got into the lobby, and it seemed as if Coiny was not lying: there were plenty of people already in the lobby. She let her gaze roam around to the others present with her:

Pen (White), Marker (Banana), Naily (Pink) and Price Tag (Coral) were all huddled around the crate with the wardrobe option, swapping around various silly hats and giggling to themselves.

Liy (Black), as the host, was next to the laptop configuring the game rules.

Bomby (Purple) and Nickel (Gray) were off in one corner, having a debate over which of the two would do best as an Impostor. Pin remarked to herself that both of them were too much of loudmouths to get away with anything.

Book (Green) was in another corner, having a decidedly one-sided conversation with Ice Cube (Maroon), whose expression was unreadable. Damn, she had a good poker face. The Crew almost never won when she was Impostor.

Lastly, there were Firey (Cyan) and Coiny (Lime), having one of their typical slapping fits over some argument Pin hadn't been paying attention to. Leafy (Yellow) stepped in to make sure everything stayed civil-

LEAFY. Oh her pin factories, Pin had forgotten that Leafy was going to be playing tonight. The aloof demeanor she had been practicing for the game was no match for the swarm of butterflies that had decided to take nest in her stomach. Any kind of suave exterior Pin put up would be melted like butter when matched against Leafy's radiant beauty. How could she concentrate on her impeccable gamer strategies when this cute lemon leaf was-

"You good, Pin?"

"ACK!!!"

The pushpin jumped back at the sudden intrusion. Oh, phew, she thought, Leafy hadn't caught her in one of her inner monologues again. It was just Gaty (Rose), whom she had somehow neglected to recognize earlier. "Sorry, I just- um, was thinking about... something."

"...Okay, then. Well, we're almost ready to start the game, just waiting on one last player."

Pin took a quick head count around the Lobby. One... two... skip a few... and then Gaty and herself made fourteen. They were missing someone.

"I thought you said Saw was gonna join us. Doesn't she live with you? Can you tell her to hurry up?" Pin inquired, failing to realize the irony in her request.

"Well, she was going to join us, but the storm outside's gotten real bad. She won't get out from under the bed now."

"What?"

"It's not worth explaining. Though, I did manage to get a replacement for h- oh! Here he is now!"

As the fifteenth player materialized into the Lobby, Pin can't stop herself from making a snarky remark; "Really? You went with him?"

"Hey," the picket gate retorts, "I had to find someone on short notice. He was the best I could do."

The orange-clad space man only has two words with which to reply to this insult: "Aw, seriously?"

Liy, taking this arrival as her cue, began the game, and everyone's vision faded to darkness.

Pin's surroundings lit up a deep red color, and in the back of her mind she knew this could only mean one thing: she was an Impostor.

She glanced at her two Impostor buddies. One she knew could not lie worth anything, and had barely played the game before.

Great. They're screwed.

But the other... Pin couldn't remember the last time that person had lost as Impostor.

Great! They're saved!

Just as the world began to fade to black again, Pin made a startling realization: Leafy was not among the Impostors. Leafy was a Crewmate. Oh pin factories. This could be bad.
