Some people say that there is no magic in books. They say books are just a waste of time, trees, and ink. Not Ike. Ike lived in downtown New York. He lived in a bad neighborhood where he couldn't even go outside to play because of the danger. There were no playground near his neighborhood so he was bored all the time. Ike was an above average twelve year-old boy. Everyday Ike would go to the abandoned library down the street. It was foreclosed but the harsh weather tore down the nailed down wooden planks and the foreclosed sign. They were still a ton of books left. Most of the books were damaged and lying on the floor. Some were still in good condition.

He went to the front desk and saw a big, heavy dictionary plopped down on it. Ike opened it up and the words and their definitions scribbled over with marker. Most of the definitions were filled with bad words and inappropriate drawings. Ike saw the tainted book and just closed it and wandered to another book. Ike found shelves lined with books. On the ceiling above the shelf read a hanging sign that read "FICTION". Ike wandered down the isle filled with books. Most of the covers were spray painted red, making it impossible to see what the book was about. He could still see some book's covers. He saw a book about a time-traveling boy. Ike found one about a kid having an adventure in space. Ike found a series of books about a group of telepathic friends.

He reached the end of the isle and turned left to find another sign on the ceiling that read "Historical Fiction". He followed the line of books. The first book Ike saw was a book titled "If Abraham Lincoln Was a Girl?". Ike looked away from the monstrosity of a book and continued down the line of books. The title "What about Women Washington?" was looking me right in the eye.

"Man, is there any good books in here?" Ike complained. Ike picked up a book. "Electricity country: Thomas Edison's Adventure" was sitting on a shelf all by itself. There were no more books for the rest of the shelf. Ike had already gone through all of the isles on the ground level. There was a spiraling staircase to the second level of the library. There was a sign that read "AUTHORIZED PERSONNEL ONLY". I wasn't authorized, but I don't think that mattered now because it was foreclosed. I took each step very carefully. Each step I took I heard a squeek from the floorboard. I saw water spots on the stairs form leaks from the roof. With each step I saw more and more of the room upstairs. I closed my eyes on the last step so I could savor the suspense. I opened my eyes to see a small room with a small couch covered with spray paint. a broken window, and a door on the other end of the couch in perfect condition. The floor up hear is squeeky too.

The door had a nice gloss finish on it, no scratches, no holes, nothing. The door knob was made of brass with a key lock on it. I tried opening the door but of course, it was locked. l"What am I supposed to do now?". I sat down on the couch. There was an end table with a stack of books on it. I picked on up and started reading it. The couch has never been sat on so I was really uncomfortable. I tried sitting in different spots until I found the right one. I found a sharp pain in my bottom. I jumped up in pain. "What in the world was that?" I said to myself. I saw a shiny key sticking out of one of the couches crevices. I picked it up. Puzzled, I picked it up and examined it. I walked over to the door and stuck it in the lock. I turned the key to the left and I heard a *click*. I opened the door, but then I heard a

"Helloooooooo," said a wandering voice. "Is anyone in here?". I heard the foot steps of the man downstairs. I could hear him searching for books in the isles. "Dang it," he said. "Where is it?". The man continued his search while I was as quiet as a mouse, trying not to make a peep.

The floorboard wasn't helping either. The floor was uneven so I lost my balance very easily. I could here the man shuffling through the cases of damged books, he was clearly looking for a specific one. I thought I was gonna get busted for being in this foreclosed library. That's not it, then I heard a radio.

"This is Deputy Adam Britton, no sight of the book, I'm going up the spiral staircase now." said the cop in the radio.

"Dang," I said to myself. "It's a cop!"

"Roger." said the radio back to him. I could heard Adam Britton approaching the stairs. One footstep. Two. Three. Four footsteps up the staircase. I had to hurry. The key was stuck in the door and it was locked. I started turning the door knob with all of my strength. Five footsteps.

"Come on! Turn!" I said to myself. I pulled the key out with all of my might and it popped out. Six footsteps. Seven. Eight. But there was a problem. The key broke and the end of the key was stuck in the door. Nine. I remembered there were Twelve stairs in all and Wallis was almost here. Ten footsteps. I started turning and turning over and over again until the door knob broke. Eleven, Twelve. I could now see the Deputy Adam Britton looking me right in the eye.

"You can't be in here!" yelled Adam. I started mumbling nonsense.

"Ummm, I-I, key, looking for books, I umm, thought no-one would care if, ummm" Ike mumbled.

"You have to evacute immediatly! Secret matters." explained Adam. My curiosity was peaking. Why is the deputy here. What's so Important behind this door. I started to sweat. I saw a gun on his belt. I  can't handle guns. Ike had a flashback about his brother, Roy.

Roy was a 16 yearold teenager with a hunger for exploring. He and his friends always went camping out in the wild. They were camping in a tent. He heard a car pull by and he decided he would go check it out. It was a pick-up truck with a murdered body in the back. The people who were driving the truck where going to dump the body in the lake nearby. Before Roy could act, they pulled a gun on him and the rest of his friends fled and reported the police. Now you can see why Ike is so afraid of guns.

Ike was confused, worried, curious, and sweating. Ike didn't think and just slammed into the room behind the door and found himself to a car sized book standing on a giant table. Ike saw a chair in the corner and put the chair underneath the other holf of the doorknob so Adam couldn't come in. Ike thought if the police were after it then it must be good. The gicantic book was titled "LIFE".

"Kid, you don't know what you're doing!" Adam shouted. Ike didn't care. The cover was ridiculously heavy. He managed to open it and read the first sentence. "If you have found this book, you don't know what's coming!". Ike kept reading the book. Adam kept banging on the door. He said something about calling for backup. Ike read and read and read. The book was a mixture of Adventure, Sience fiction, Fiction, Non Fiction, everything you could think of! He read the whole book!

He found the back cover and saw a strange hole in it. It was like a portal or a black whole or something. He reached his arm in and saw that it went through the book, into another demension. Ike pulled his arm back and saw it covered in Steel Armor.

"What the-" said Ike. He dipped his other arm in and it was plated with Steel Armor too. "What is this?". Ike kept dipping his body parts in and saw it was covered in armor. Ike had an Idea. He stood on the chair and jumped right through the hole! He was transported through a black hole. He saw clouds and felt like he was falling. His body was heavy. He was covered in armor from head to toe! He was falling! He could see a horse down on the ground. Ike was terrified. He thought he was going to plunge to the ground, but he safely landed on the horse. Both of them were perfectly fine. Ike saw someone in the distance yelling for him.
