Misinformation warfare. It is a type of warfare where a state or a nation gathers the sentiments of the opposing side's citizens through fake or manipulated news.

In the modern age, misinformation is rather easy to do since access to social media and the like is everywhere, rather, information is everywhere.

In the current age, the 1920s, misinformation warfare is waged via newspapers, radios, or word-of-mouth. It is not easy to spread fake news or manipulated news since citizens are also working hard for their daily wages. For their families, they would rather choose to work than to rest.

Going back, misinformation warfare is the type of strategy that was used by the Empire against Dacia.

The Dacian citizens fell for the Empire's sweet talks. All kinds of harming words were plastered on the faces of the Grand Duchal family. The Grand Duchal family's reputation was riddled with lies, misleading truths, falsehoods, fabrications, and/or fake news. This mislead the common populace to stand up against them, and further spread more damaging rumors against the family.

And here comes the Empire. The Empire to the populace is like an angel that was heading towards them for salvation, however, in this case, the angel is not really an angle, but rather, a great pretender.

The common populace of Dacia does not know this, so it was rather easy for the Empire to scoot their way into the hearts of these people. You see, the Dacian citizens are poor. They have nothing to eat, nothing to spend, nothing to cure.... So the Empire provided them.

You want food, then you get food.

You want clothes, then you get clothes.

Oh, you got a wound, don't worry since the Empire's doctors are here to help.

Everything that the citizens of Dacia wished for, the Empire provided them, albeit only in small amounts.

However, even if the aids only came in small amounts, the citizens of Dacia seems to found an oasis in the middle of a vast desert.

Of course, this 'humanitarian aid' also came into attention of the Grand Duke. The Grand Duke and his council knew that something fishy was going on, however they can't move against the 'humanitarian aid' of the Empire, lest they will be seen by their citizens as disruptors of 'aid'.

However, as the months pass by, more and more citizens were being converted into the Empire 'faith'. The Citizens, believing that the Empire is akin to a God who came down from heaven in order to remove them from their current misery, done their own tasks and spread the 'faith' of the Empire.

Radios, newspapers, and people were spreading to others that the Empire is the salvation they are waiting for. Of course, this 'faith' is dabbled in by the hands of the Empire's agents in Dacia. They continually provoke the fire that is currently burning in the citizens' hearts.

In time, almost all of Dacia were believing on the 'Imperial Faith'. Religion is oftentimes a tool used by the leaders of the nation in order to rile up their citizens.

The Grand Duke, fearing that the 'Imperial faith' had already deeply penetrated the Grand Duchy, ordered some troops to arrest the perpetrators of this 'faith'. However, what he didn't know is that the 'faith' has already penetrated into his palace too.

Some of the troops that were sent was part of the believers faction. The believers faction is the faction who greatly believes that the Empire can lead them out of their misery. They are those who advocate the pro-Imperial view in the Duchy.

As said before, a handful of those troops sent were members of the believers faction. They informed the higher ups of the faction that the Grand Duke has sent some troops to arrest them. These higher ups quickly fled the scene.
