"I'm working on a... time machine."
He finally finishes, his tone casual and nonchalant. However, YN's body is on full alert mode as she struggles to keep herself composed at the gravity of this statement. Her mind is in utter disbelief as she desperately searches her mind to see if she heard her father correctly. Did he really just say he's working on a time machine?
YN's father's statement about working on a time machine echoes around in her head, his words suddenly feeling very real as the weight of it begins to sink in. The magnitude of it is almost overwhelming as her mind struggles to wrap itself around the idea. She slowly tries to process everything before suddenly bursting out an unexpected question, "Wait, you seriously expect me to believe you're building a time machine?"
Her father chuckles at her question, his amused reaction only adding to her confusion. YN is still trying to come to terms with the situation as she continues, "I mean... a time machine? That's not really a common thing, you know?" Her tone is an amusing mixture of shock, disbelief, and slight excitement as she tries to rationalize the fact that she is currently having a conversation with her father about the idea of actually building a time machine.
The words are rushing in front of her mouth before she can even think, "Seriously, a time machine? Time travel isn't even possible, right? Is it?" The doubts are still flooding her mind and she can hardly believe that her scientist father is really building a time machine. She looks at him carefully, as if searching for some sign that he has just gone mad.
Her father continues to remain calm, his expression unchanged as he responds to her questions with a bemused smile, "Well, I suppose time travel wasn't considered possible until now, but here we are, right?" He continues, "As for the possibility of it, of course it is. I wouldn't be working on it if it weren't possible." The certainty in his words only adds to her confusion, fuelling her questions further.
Her father lets out another soft chuckle, taking her barrage of questions casually. He responds, "Honestly, ethics wasn't really high on my list of priorities when I decided to build it. But don't worry, it's not like I'm going to go back and kill baby Hitler or anything like that." He adds a jokingly tone to the last part, trying to ease her concerns.
Her father takes a moment to explain, his demeanour transforming into a more serious state for the purpose of explaining the details. He begins, "Well, the science behind time travel is complex, but, put simply, it's all about altering the fabric of time-space itself." His tone suddenly switches to a more academic one as he continues, "Through the manipulation of particle physics, and the utilization of various quantum mechanics, we have the means to create a wormhole that effectively disrupts time-space, allowing for the possibility of time travel."
