The battle is over,
The soldiers are returning home.
The world has moved on, and they have a lot to cover,
Tell their families they are alive, and that they are not alone. The war, a taker and a destroyer,
An emblem of eternal sacrifice and pain.
Many wish to spend good times in their home's foyer,
But they have chosen a very different and difficult lane.
A tribute to the soldiers martyred,
Gratitude to all those who have fought.
Oh God, why have so many faltered,
Upon their families, Oh, what have you brought?
Alongside the victory in the Kargil War,
They have also won our hearts.
The country and motherland they have fought for,
For which their bodies shattered into a million parts.
Seeing their friends and family fall,
Many left to limp and crawl,
Is this what they deserve,
After keeping their homeland as first reserve?
