The first rays of the sun emerged in the sky.

Sea used to wake up with this view before heading to work out.

Sea Tawinan (25) is a badminton player who dreams of competing at the national level. He had just passed the regionals, but owing to a terrible injury sustained in his last match, he was taken to the hospital.

"Good morning, son. Did you sleep well last night?" His mother got him some spare clothes and magazines to distract him.

Sea stared at the bland food in front of him, forcing himself to eat since he didn't want to bother her. He raises his tired, haggard eyes from his nearly empty bowl of rice omelette.

"I did," he answered, giving a thumbs up and smiling.

He prayed his mother wouldn't see through him.

The sun blinded him for a split second. How he wished he could escape this place.

"Does your shoulder hurt?" His mother questioned after fluffing up the cushion on his back.

"Today it's not hurting," he soothed her.

"That's a positive sign, honey. Say, Have you thought about what we discussed the other day?" The mother had taken a seat in front of him.

She waited for her son's reaction; given how quiet he had gotten, she worried that she had upset him.

Sea clenched his fist lightly, but then grinned at her.

"If I need it, I'll let you know. Mom, could you just give me my phone? I'm going to play some video games. Would you like me to teach you how it works?" Sea enthusiastically shook his mother.

"Ok, honey," she laughed, moving closer to his bed.

Sea had difficulties sleeping because of pain and migraines, and he also lost his appetite. The doctor assumed Sea was depressed and suggested he see a psychologist for treatment.

He has been a patient for the past two years and has undergone more than three procedures. He was recovering from another intervention and suffered a slight sprain in his left foot.

Sea has always been very positive. He's nice, polite, and adores his family. However, the joyful times appeared to be replaced by frightening recurring nightmares and negative thoughts.

The possibility of going to therapy terrified him.

What if he lets everyone down?

He did not want to abandon the promise to his best friend. He was heading to the nationals.

He'll do anything to return to the court.

A few days later, Sea decided to do some small warm-ups and stroll around to strengthen his body. He was also forcing himself to eat more, which initially made him feel dizzy, but his body appeared to have agreed with him.

He was astonished when his teammate and best buddy paid him a visit after one of his walks.

"Man, you need to lend me your games." Mark Pakin (26) started searching through his belongings without asking for permission.

They've known one another since high school, when Sea relocated alone from Ayutthaya to Bangkok. At first, Mark and he did not get along. They began as rivals until one day Mark decided to speak with Sea, and they've been inseparable since.

Mark and he will play doubles in the next competition, which is in four months. They agree to go to the nationals together.

"Why don't you train? Are you really bored without me?" Sea punched his arm jokingly.
