Chapter 1 - Here We Go!

Bucks POV -

I wake up disoriented, then I remember how I ended the night.
I came over to Eddies. No words shared, just drinks with my best friend. We both needed it, I just lost my first boyfriend. That's gotta be a record or something.

I thought I was doing the right thing, I still don't understand what he meant saying he wasn't my last...why couldn't he? I guess I'll just have to move forward.

I hear scuffling coming from the kitchen. I smell bacon, I make my way to the kitchen as I hear juice being poured. "Morning Eddie, sorry I clocked out on your couch. I'll get ready to go after I use the restroom." I mention as I set down. He gives me a look then replies l. "What's the rush? We're both off until the afternoon. You don't have plans, let's just enjoy the morning." He smiles as he set a plate of food in front of me.

My mouth waters as I spot the vegan breakfast before me. He made me alternatives. Though I originally smelled his bacon. "Well I guess you're right, but also I had a question." I say reaching for my pants to find the tickets. "Shoot, I will go get a new shirt & some shorts. I nod as I follow him to his room. "So uh, I have tickets to the lakers this Saturday night, would you like to go with me?" I felt kinda off, asking knowing where I got these tickets. He slipped into his blue shorts & had on a firefighter shirt on.

He looked me over then asked. "I'm mean I'd love to but what about.." I cut him off. "We broke up, the tickets were...an anniversary gift." He laughs then says. " Wait, but you're over, how does that make sense?" I huff knowing what will come next after what I say.

I look in his eyes then to the floor. "I asked him to move in with me, I thought I was making the right move. He said I wasn't ready, he's my first, &.." I finally broke down. Eddie grabs me.

I sob in his shoulder. "She was his first & he was my first, he left us both..." this time he cut me off. "Woah woah, he was who's?" He exclaimed as he stood back. "Abbie's, he was engaged to her...for two years, after they broke the engagement she met me." His eyes grew. he hugged me then said. "I'm sorry Buck, you didn't deserve that." He held me as I breathed before I said anything.

I pull away, he brushes my hair with his hand. "Well you'll always have me, & Christopher wouldn't let me let you go." I chuckled. "So you'll go with me then?" He smiles at my question then replies. "Of course, who else will explain the game to you." We laugh. "Hey I have a question myself. If I may ask?" I look to read him, it felt serious.

He turns to face me, our breakfast finished. He clear the dishes. "Well come out with it!" I say laughing seeing he's fumbling around. "So how did you know?" He says as he looks to me with a look I've felt I've seen before but I can't place it. I give him a questioning look. "Know what exactly? That's pretty vague for me to answer." I laugh as I plop on the couch.

He sits opposite of me. He looks up to the ceiling. "How did you know you were into men? Like did you have an awakening?" He was getting red in the face. Where is this coming from.

I look to the window, thinking of when or where. Then it hits me. I play his game of vague. "Well it was in the job, obviously, I knew kinda but there's one day that solidified it. Though it wasn't until recently I confirmed anything." He looks to me thoughtfully.

"What is all this about?" I ask as I finish my juice. He shrugs as he replies. "Oh I was just thinking maybe you & him were just on different paths. Maybe you're still looking for what you need, ya know?" I think about it then agree. "Yeah, I don't want someone who would lead me on, he lost me & that's okay." Eddie smiles as he hugs me.

"He truly fumbled but that's on him, when's the game? That will take your mind off of it. Besides last night, I take it you had more then needed. Especially seeing you never left. You said you were going to leave as I headed to bed." He laughs & I join as I recollect. "Then you see me on your couch asleep, but hey at least I was safe!" I point out.
