One Week Later

Marinette and Alya had taken up the last spot in the school library, whispering so no one else would hear the conversation. She didn't really understand why Alya seemed so uncomfortable with this conversation. She watched as her best friend fidgeted as the story went on.

It was weird that the girl who was so obsessed with Ladybug and Chat Noir was acting so strange about a conversation that involved him.

"So let me get this straight, this past week you and Chat Noir sat on your roof watching movies and chatting? Why haven't you told me before now?"

"Yeah, it's been really fun. Why are you acting like this is such a bad thing?" A sigh followed her question. It made her go on the defense. Marinette was tired of everyone treating her like glass. The constant cautious looks she gets when she does anything. It made her angry. She was fine now. The only thing left was a small scar on the side of her head.

"It's just...the accident. He was the only up there that saw everything, no one else did other than Hawkmoth and he's disappeared off the face of the Earth. Chat Noir has never spoke about it. How do we know he wasn't involved in someway?" Her jaw dropped at Alya's accusation. Who did she think she was accusing him of such a thing?

"I can't believe you'd think something like that! Chat Noir made it clear that it was an accident. The cameras on surrounding buildings showed that he tried his best." She went to get up, ready to leave this conversation. It was such a stupid thing of her friend to say.

"Wait, just wait! Just try to look at it from my perspective, okay?" Marinette sat back down to listen. She stared at the hallway wall in front of her that held a picture of the Paris superheroes standing with the mayor.

"I've told you that I was the holder of the Fox miraculous that day. I was involved in fighting the thing that was at the Eiffel tower. Ladybug left and Chat Noir followed her. That was normal. But the next thing that happened was the akumas were gone, but there was ambulance sirens coming from the area they had went-"

Alya's voice cracked. Marinette watched as she gathered herself.

"We all went over to the scene to find Chat Noir kneeling by your side, Hawkmoth was gone. It was obvious that the railing on the roof had broke in what looked like a fall. But the only ones on that roof was Chat Noir and you. It's hard to believe that he wasn't quick enough to catch you."

Marinette felt anger that she hadn't ever really felt before. There was something sitting in the back of her mind, telling her all of this was wrong. She just shook her head while pulling her arm from Alya's grip.

"You might want to delete your blog, Alya. It looks like your love of the superheroes who saved Paris time and time again has turned ugly. I'm not going to sit here and listen to you talk about someone like this. Especially someone who has saved you and me many times."

She ignored as Alya called her name, begging for her to come back. It wasn't normal for her to snap so hard but she didn't care. It wasn't right for Chat to be talked about like he was a bad person.

Why was she so protective of Chat Noir? Was it because he was the only one not treating her like she was a glass doll?

She rubbed her eyes, putting pressure on them as another migraine started. It was something the doctors had warned them over that she may have migraine problems. It hadn't really become a problem until recently. The pain was just centered behind her eyes like something was trying to get out.
