The evening was calm as Sylus rested, his breathing steady but still showing signs of the ordeal he had endured. I stayed by his side, unwilling to leave him even for a moment. Luke and Kieran moved quietly around the mansion, their expressions grave as they processed the events of the past few days.

Damian, who had been keeping a low profile since Sylus's return, finally emerged from his room, looking pale and troubled. He approached Luke and Kieran in the hallway, glancing nervously at Sylus's closed door.

"Can we talk?" Damian asked, his voice barely above a whisper.

Luke and Kieran exchanged a look before nodding. "Let's go to the study," Luke suggested, leading the way.

Once inside the study, Damian took a deep breath, his hands trembling slightly. "I need to tell you something. I think I know why Sylus was taken."

Luke's eyes narrowed. "What do you mean? We thought it was just a random incident."

"It wasn't," Damian said, guilt evident in his voice. "I overheard some conversations... some people I used to associate with. They were planning something big, and Sylus was a target. I didn't think it would actually happen, but..."

Kieran leaned forward, his expression intense. "You knew they were targeting Sylus, and you didn't say anything?"

"I didn't realize how serious it was!" Damian exclaimed, his voice breaking. "I thought it was just talk. By the time I understood, it was too late. I didn't know how to stop it."

Luke took a deep breath, trying to keep his anger in check. "Why didn't you tell us this earlier?"

"I was scared," Damian admitted, his eyes downcast. "I didn't want to make things worse. I didn't know what to do."

Kieran put a hand on Damian's shoulder, his voice softer. "We need to tell her. She deserves to know the truth."

"Not tonight," Luke said, his tone firm. "Let's wait until the morning. She's been through enough, and Sylus needs his rest. We'll tell her first thing tomorrow."

Damian nodded, relief and fear mingling in his expression. "Okay. Thank you."

They left the study quietly, each lost in their thoughts. As the night wore on, I remained by Sylus's side, unaware of the conversation that had just taken place.

The next morning, I woke up to the soft light of dawn filtering through the curtains. Sylus was still asleep, his face more peaceful than it had been in days. I kissed his forehead gently before slipping out of bed, determined to find Luke and Kieran.

I found them in the kitchen, talking in hushed tones. They looked up as I entered, their expressions serious.

"Good morning," I said, sensing something was off. "What's going on?"

Luke glanced at Kieran before turning to me. "There's something we need to tell you. It's about why Sylus was taken."

My heart skipped a beat. "What do you mean? I thought it was just a random incident."

"It wasn't," Kieran said, his voice gentle but firm. "Damian overheard some conversations. He believes Sylus was specifically targeted."

I felt a rush of anger and fear. "Damian knew about this? And he didn't say anything?"

"He didn't realize how serious it was until it was too late," Luke explained. "He's been scared and unsure of what to do. But he's admitted it now."

I took a deep breath, trying to process this new information. "Where is he?"

"He's in the study," Kieran said. "He's ready to explain everything."

I nodded, my mind racing. "Okay. Let's go."
