Grover, Wyoming: population 147. It is one of the smallest towns you could find and hidden in a vast and beautiful forest. Perfect for Shawn and I. Nature has always been my home away from home and a huge role in helping me to write my music as well as Shawn. As up and coming singers, we did not want to live our life in the spot light and wanted to be as close to our families as work allowed and also as close to our inspiration as humanly possible. So when me and my best friend Shawn won an american singing competition with our band and our dreams stared to become a reality, the first thing we did with the cash prize and with the money from our music, was buy a house that was as far from the spot light and Hollywood as possible but close to our families. Shawn and I grew up together in a small Wyoming town and we both loved to sing. We started a band as soon as we were old enough to preform gigs and then a year or two later, entered in a national televised singing contest and as I mentioned, we won.
We found our house in Grover. Our families live in Thayne, Wyoming and from our house to the houses where he and I grew up was a total of ten minutes. Our agent allowed us to move here because there was an airport that flew private planes and jets. We told her that we did not have a pilot let alone a private jet and what does she do? She goes and buys us our own private plane for our birthday, which is on the same day. A freaking plane, not a gift card like any sane person would. But I am thankful she did so that I could live closer to my family and to nature and the same with Shawn. Our house was right in the middle of the forest. It has its own paved road to drive down to get there. The was a moderately sized backyard but there is no fence separating the backyard from the forest. The forest is practically part of the backyard.
I pulled out of the canyon and right as I got service, my phone starting going off and was blowing up with notifications. I sighed wishing Shawn drove up with me and didn't have to fly in for another two weeks. I looked in my rear view mirror to look at my two wolf pups, Piper and Hunter, in the back seat. I giggled as I watched them play tug of war with a rope that they shared. I found them about three months ago when I was coming to take a look at the house. They were on the side of the road by an older wolf that was dying. I pulled over and as soon as I got out of the car, the wolf pups ran over to me and hopped in my arms as I crouched down next to the older wolf. The weird thing is, when I looked at the wolf, it looked at the pups and then to me and nodded at me. I know I was imagining it but it has always stuck with me and bothered me.
I shook the thoughts out of my head and just as I did this, my phone rang. I looked down quickly to see it was my agent. I let it ring, I can call her back later. I finally pulled up to my house. The house was a four level house with six bedrooms and seven bathrooms, a humoungous kitchen and a big dinning room to go with it, a giant living room, and a indoor and outdoor pool plus so much more! I quickly hopped out of my car to let out the pups. I didn't realize they both had their paws against the door and when I opened the door they tumbled out and fell on top of each other. I started laughing at them as they suddenly got up and ran around the front yard, as if they didn't just face plant thirty seconds ago.
I was still laughing and shook my head as I walked to the front door and unlocked it. I whistled for the pups and they immediately stopped what they were doing and they raced toward the open door. I laughed at them again and rolled my eyes and shut the door behind them. I looked around at my bare house and decided that tomorrow I would start decorating the house and make it more homey. I walked over to the stairs and walked up them with the pups right behind me. I carried my air mattress, bedding, and my clothes that I brought inside with me up the stairs and found my bedroom, then I got ready for bed. I fed the pups and as they ate, I called my agent back.
"Good lord Kiana! I thought you died in that darn canyon!" Was the first thing I heard when she answered the phone.
"Good to hear your voice too Sal." I said, sarcasm thick in my tone.
"Yeah, Yeah sure. Did you make it home ok?" Sally asked seriously.
"Yup! We sure did. The pups were a little rowdy when we got out of the canyon but other than that, the ride went smoothly!" I said happily.
"That is great! Anyway, down to business. Ellen DeGeneres wants an interview with you and Shawn to talk about the band and the music videos and wants you to bring videos and pictures of recording and filming and she also wants you two to preform it live. Are you OK with it?" She asked me, trying to hide her excitement in her voice. I shrieked and started jumping up and down excitedly.
"Tell her heck yes! When is the interview?" I asked quickly.
"It is in three weeks, but I am sending Shawn out tomorrow so you two can arrive there together. And since I know you miss him and he is your best friend, so you two can get settled into the band house. Is that alright?"She asked me.
"HECK YES!!!" I yelled.
"Alright, he will be there around 12:30 in the afternoon. Your welcome." She said then hung up. I rolled my eyes at her behavior and ran down the hall and down the steps and out to my car to get the extra bedding and the extra air mattress I brought. I ran back inside and I ran back up the stairs and to the other bedroom on this floor that was next to mine. I laid the stuff out so that I could just wake up and wait for Shawn. I went back to my room and shut off the light and quickly ran to my air matress and almost instantly fell asleep thinking about what fun I was going to have over in this house.
