🎧 Chapter four 🎧

The weekend has finally came and Mina was excited to hang out with her friends .

" HI !! Are you ready for today ?" Yuna texted Mina .

" yepp !"

" oh btw Chris is not going with us , he said that something urgent came up ."

" oh ok . Np if he's ok that's all that matters ."

" yepp , anyways I'll meet you there ! "

Minho, Yuna, and Mina were enjoying their time at the mall. They had spent the morning shopping and were excited to grab lunch together. Everything seemed perfect until Minho received a text message from their father : "You've crossed a line. Come home immediately, or suffer the consequences."

Minho's face went white as he read the message. Yuna, noticing her brother's distress, asked him what was wrong. Minho hesitated but decided to show her the message. Yuna's concern grew as she read the text. Both of them knew their father had been involved in dubious activities, but this was the first time they'd received a direct threat.

Yuna and Minho decided they needed to go home immediately to check on things, but they didn't want to worry Mina. They told her that something urgent had come up and that they needed to leave. Mina, though puzzled, respected their decision and agreed to meet them later.

Minho and Yuna hurried home, their minds racing with concern after the text message. As they approached their house, they heard raised voices coming from inside. Their hearts sank as they realized the argument was escalating.

Quietly, they crept to the living room doorway and peered in. The scene before them was shocking. Their father, a figure of intimidation and fear in their lives, was in a heated argument with their mother. The air was charged with anger and fear.

Their father's voice boomed with a menacing tone. "You think you can defy me, Jihyo ? You have no idea what I'm capable of!"

Jihyo, their mother, was visibly shaken and trying to shield herself. "I'm tired of this, Jungwon! You're an abusive monster! You're going to destroy this family!"

Without warning, their father lashed out and struck Jihyo, causing her to fall to the floor. Minho and Yuna gasped in horror, unable to believe their eyes. They had known their father was harsh and domineering, but this was beyond anything they had ever witnessed.

Minho's fists clenched in anger and fear. He felt a surge of protective instinct for his mother and sister. Yuna, equally distressed, reached for Minho's arm. "We have to do something," she whispered urgently.

As their father continued to berate and threaten their mother, Minho and Yuna listened, their hearts pounding. Through the chaos, they overheard their father mention the Mafia. "You don't understand, Jihyo! I'm the leader of the Syndicate! If you don't keep quiet, you'll make things worse for all of us!"

Their father was not just a brutal man; he was deeply entrenched in organized crime. The Mafia's reach and influence explained the fear and tension that had always loomed over their family.

Seeing their mother struggling to get up, Minho and Yuna knew they had to act quickly. They couldn't confront their father directly without risking their safety, but they had to protect their mother and themselves.

With a sense of urgency, Minho whispered to Yuna, "We need to get Mom out of here and find a way to keep ourselves safe. We can't stay here. Not with him like this."

Yuna nodded, her face pale but determined. Together, they helped their mother to her feet and guided her to a safe room in the house where they could talk in private.Jihyo, though hurt and shaken, was grateful for her children's support.

Once they were safe, Minho and Yuna made a plan. They knew they couldn't rely on their father for protection and that the Mafia's reach was dangerous. So they decided to stay at a hotel for starters and think about other things later .

They waited for the night to come , then they took the car and went to a hotel . Once they were in their room , they settled their things and had dinner .

" Mom , since when you knew that that monster was in a Gang ? " Minho asked out of nowhere .

" Like a few months ago ..."

Yuna meanwhile , was trying to open her phone . " Wow 6 missed calls from Mina and 10 missed texts also from her , aww the poor girl she must've been so worried about us Minho .."

" I should defenitely call her back .." the girl added . " Who's Mina ? " The mom asked curiously . " She's our new friend ! She's really pretty and kind . You must meet her mom !"

The mother looked at her son for approval . As an answer , he nodded with a smile .

Then Yuna called her friend , telling her that it was nothing serious and her phone died and that she didn't find the charger until then . The thing that Mina wasn't buying any of it but she said to herself that maybe she was overreacting and overthinking .
