"Good morning love."
Jonathan's familiar voice woke Leena up from her sleep. Eyes half open, still trying to get herself fully conscious, she scanned her surrounding and spotted him walking towards her with a tray of food. Breakfast in bed?

She sat up leaning against the headboard of their overly huge bed. Her head throbbed as yesterday's events came crashing on her. Sandra's confrontation, the fight with her mom, drinking with Rachael. That explained the headache.

Jonathan leaned in to give her a kiss on her forehead placing the buffet of a a breakfast on the mini cupboard beside their bed. Then she realized it. Wasn't he supposed to be away for 3 more days on a business trip? How was he here with her? That too so early in the morning.

"What are you doing here? Aren't you supposed to be in Rome."

"Yes. But Rome couldn't stop me from celebrating my anniversary with my beautiful wife. You thought I'd leave you all alone on a day like this one?"

Oh shoot...It WAS their anniversary. She had completely forgotten all about it but as expected, he did and all it did was make her feel all the more guilty and wrong and she was supposed to. How could she not.

    "I got you something, "

Jonathan said, pulling her out of her train of thoughts. He was beaming with excitement, clearly eager to show her his gift and in that moment, she was reminded of just how much she loved this man. How much she how he loved her and she could not help but smile. He got up, headed to their walk in closet and after a short while came back with a little wrapped box.

He handed her the box but made her promise to not open it till later that night and without question, she kept her rather light gift aside to have breakfast with her man. Her forever person. Her husband.

The nearly two hours spent in bed with him that morning was enough to clear up her confusion. She adored this man. Matter of fact, she loved him even with what her mother would term as flaws that made him not 'manly' enough. That morning was a reminder of who he was to her.

The man who saw beyond her cold, closed self. Beyond her skin. The man who knew he wanted all of her and was not afraid to show it. To her and to the whole world. He took her out of the dark place Shawn, her first ex, and Michael had left her in and showed her love with no expectations.

Now that she thought of it, she was so hung up on her first ex that she named Michael after him just to distract herself. It worked until he left her more broken that he did. Jonathan was different and she loved him regardless.

She had made a vow to spend her entire life with this man and yes, she might have felt like she was bored at some point. Felt like she needed something more than what she had but wasn't that normal in a marriage? Was that not how marriage worked?

What she needed was a change of routine. Not a new man and especially not the same man who broke her. She made a silent vow to herself, to not make the same mistake again. To let her past stay buried in the past and focus on her present. Jonathan was her present and she was intent on making it work with her. It was all she could think of while shopping for his anniversary gift that evening.

AN; Saying its been a longtime, is an understatement. I've been off for so long and not writing that for a moment I almost let it go entirely. Well...I'm back and I want to finish up everything this time. I'll give daily updates for PT so we can finally all get to know where Leena's heart will lead her to. I hope you're all as excited as I am. # Joleena or # Milee 😅
