Emiliano, Ellie, and Joel arrive at the University after a couple of weeks on riding horseback.
Ellie: Okay, let me see if I get it straight. If you mess up your fourth down, then you give the ball to the other team?
Joel: Right, it's called turn over.
Ellie: And if you clear the ten yards then you're back at... first down?
Emiliano: Yep.
Ellie: Man, it's confusing.
Emiliano: It's pretty fun. I played it all the time back then.
Emiliano and Joel ride to the parking lot.
Ellie: Okay. None of these buildings look like a mirror to me.
Joel: Well, we'll head to central grounds. Should be able to see most of the campus from there.
Ellie: So these places... people would live here and just study? Even though they were all grown up?
Joel: Yeah, study, party, and find themselves. Figure out what they wanted to do with their lives.
Ellie: What they wanted to do with their lives. What would you be if any of this didn't happen, Emiliano?
Emiliano: Hmm... Probably a football player.
Ellie: Wow, okay.
Emiliano: I was pretty good.
Ellie: Sure... Ooh, it's getting chilly.
Joel: It's that time of year.
Ellie: How many people do you think there? I mean the Fireflies?
Joel: Reckon it takes quite a crew to run the operation.
Ellie: You think there'll be other people my age?
Emiliano: Yeah.
Ellie: Really?
Emiliano: No, because I'm the only one that you know who is the same age.
Ellie: You ass.
Emiliano: Hey, you asked.
Emiliano and Joel ride into the building. Joel hops off and the horses start neighing.
Emiliano: Trouble.
Joel: I'll check it out you two stay here.
Ellie: Are you sure?
Joel: Yes, I don't want them running off.
Joel closes the gate and he quietly walks up the stairs. Emiliano could hear a molotov being thrown and the infected screaming loudly. But the screams stopped as Joel came back down stairs. Emiliano opened the gate as Jin and Ellie rode through.
Ellie: You know, I always wanted to be an astronaut.
Joel: That a fact?
Ellie: Yeah, imagine how cool it would be just by yourself up there. What did you want to be Joel?
Joel: When I was a kid, I wanted to be a singer.
Ellie: What? No way.
Joel: Yep.
Ellie: Can you sing something right now?
Joel: No.
Ellie: What? Come on, I won't laugh.
Joel: No.
Ellie: Joel. Please...?
Joel: No.
Ellie: Fine. Jin, can you sing?
