The Doctor

An older man in a lab coat, messy gray hair, and a name tag that says "Dr. Arkeville" walks into a rundown gas station. He goes to the fridge and grabs a couple of cokes. He looks around and grabs a couple of bags of chips. Kelly walks into the gas station as well and he is extremely happy to see the man in the lab coat. Kelly speaks, "Casey, boy how long has been two, three months?! Come over here man!" Casey chuckles and they hug each other. Kelly speaks, "Now tell me how things have been going. Still keeping the aliens away?" Casey says, "We're doing something like that at work, Kelly. We have hired many experts to work with us, in many various fields, such as nanotechnology, robotics, and prosthetic appendages. We hope to make many advancements in human engineering within the next few years." Kelly speaks, "Man, I'm proud of you Casey, I mean look at you got a successful business and easily the smartest guy I know! Say be careful around some of that tech, especially the alien stuff it creates bad mojo if you know what I'm saying." Casey says, "When you talk about the aliens... you do mean the Transformers, right? Never mind, we don't like using their litter as we believe humans create our future. Anyways, enough about me, how is everything? Are you still living in your daughter's backyard, I can lend you some money if you need it..." Kelly puts his hand on Casey's shoulder, "Don't worry, I'm fine. In fact, why don't you come by the house just to check on things". Casey says, "I don't know, I probably should be getting back to work." Kelly speaks, "Hasn't it been a few years since you saw Annie as well?" Casey smiles, "All right just let me call work real quickly."

Fifteen minutes later, Annie walks out of the garage and calls for Sarah, "Hey Mom! You don't know where Strongarm is do you?" Dr. Arkeville walks around one of their counters and startles her. Dr. Arkeville speaks to her, "My dear I don't have the slightest idea what a Strongarm is...". Annie walks up to see Dr. Arkeville with Grandpa Kelly chuckling over a glass of wine. Grandpa Kelly says, "Annie it's probably been a while, but you were young when you met Dr. Arkeville". Annie says, "Nice to see you again. But Grandpa Kelly, you don't know where mom is do you?". Grandpa Kelly says, "She should still be at the hospital". Dr. Arkeville says, "Annie it's just so incredible how much you've grown!". Annie speaks, "Thanks..." Dr. Arkeville speaks, "So please tell me more about the Strongarm situation?" Annie says, "Oh, it's just some dumb paper. I'm writing for a class... which reminds me, I need to talk to Mom about it real quick!". Grandpa Kelly says, "You don't need any help from your old man, you used to be quite the essay writer back in my day". Annie speaks, "Thanks but I'm a good Grandpa. Annie goes into her bedroom. Dr. Arkeville stares at the bedroom door menacingly then takes wine off the counter. Annie quickly calls her mom and Sarah answers at the hospital, "Yes, Annie I'm busy right now, but what is it?". Annie speaks, "Do you know where Strongarm went?" Sarah says, "Is this really what you want to talk about right now, on the phone?!" Annie speaks, "Can you please tell me?". Sarah speaks, "She said earlier she needed to go out but didn't say where. She left in quite a hurry. She seemed to be acting a lot weirder than usual." Annie speaks, "Of course she's weird she's a freaking talking car robot". Sarah speaks, "She just seemed a lot more scared than usual...look I got to go. I love you, honey!". Annie says, "I love you too". Annie's phone hangs up. Annie walks out of the bedroom. Dr. Arkeville sipping on a glass of wine speaks "Unfortunately I have to leave on short notice because work says they urgently need me". Grandpa Kelly speaks, "See you later Casey, hopefully, we can catch up again soon". Dr. Arkeville speaks, "Would love to. Oh, and Annie good luck with Strongarm... the paper, of course." Annie gets a confused look as Dr. Arkeville walks out the door.

At the hospital, a surgeon and a nurse rush around an operating room with Janet's body on the table. Back in the waiting area Sarah and a young cop patiently wait for the surgeon to finish. The young cop speaks, "Why are we even letting them work on her, you know Janet has killed over the years do you think she is going to stop?" Sarah speaks, "Well, she was my sister once. But if she can make it out there alive, she's getting a life sentence, unfortunately". The surgeon walks out and speaks to them, "She's in rough shape and has permanent nerve damage, part of me has doubts she will make it. But, I'll see what else I can do". The surgeon walks back in then a few moments later immediately rushes back out. The surgeon says, "I can't find her anywhere, I can't find the patient?". Sarah then starts yelling at the surgeon, "How do you just lose a patient?".

An ambulance rushes away from the hospital carrying Janet Briggs. She is currently in a coma-like state. The nurse who was helping with her operation is the one who is driving the ambulance, heavily focused on the road. A few minutes later, they arrive at a shady rundown office. A few workers wheel Janet in. Janet arrives at a messy table littered with large wires, robotic prosthetics, computer chips, and other miscellaneous items. She is placed on the table, wakes up, and frantically starts to panic. Then a man emerges revealing himself to be Dr. Arkeville. Dr. Arkeville speaks to Janet, "Calm down, calm down. I promise we will not hurt you Ms. Briggs. In fact, we are here to fix you, unlike what your surgeons cannot do". Janet starts to get nervous, "How do you know my... wait, you're that Dr. Dude who's been in the local tech magazines". Dr. Arkeville speaks, "It seems I am Ms. Briggs". Janet becomes intrigued, "But, what do you mean you can fix me?". Dr. Arkeville says, "I cannot only repair your body after your recent situation, but I can also give you special abilities. Some might say superpowers". Janet Briggs speaks, "Yeah, right Doc stuff like that doesn't even exist. And even if it did, why would you give it to me?". Dr. Arkeville says, "It's simple really, I need someone with your incredible drive, passion, and skills to control the abilities and follow proper procedure". Janet Briggs says, "You mean you just needed someone insane enough to boss around...". Dr. Arkeville speaks, "Well whenever you put it like that...". Janet Briggs says, "Whatever, so if you're telling the truth, what powers do I get." Dr. Arkeville says, "In a world where we are constantly surrounded by technology, you shall be a goddess amongst it all". Janet Briggs looks back down at her torn-up body and speaks, "I can't think of a better ability for me". A scientist walks up and nods to Dr. Arkeville. Dr. Arkeville speaks, "All right Ms. Briggs we are ready for the procedure. But I won't lie to you, this will be incredibly painful for you. So if you do not want to participate, that is fine". Janet questions Dr. Arkeville, "Do you know anything about that recent fight I got into earlier?" Dr. Arkeville speaks, "With the Cybertronian, of course!" Janet questions Dr. Arkeville, "Can you tell me if Sam is okay?" Dr. Arkeville speaks, "Unfortunately, she drowned in the river". Janet, still looking at her body, looks towards Dr. Arkeville and says, "I want this more than anything right now". Dr. Arkeville gives a thumbs up to the rest of the scientists in the room, "All right, it's a go people". Soon the scientists start plugging in wires, tubes, chips, and other miscellaneous pieces into her body. Janet starts screaming. Dr. Arkeville looks at her, "Sorry Ms. Briggs, but this is going to get a lot worse". Dr. Arkeville shouts, "Start infusing Nanotech with her body". Janet's shrieks become extremely loud.
