Amrita's pov:-

"Amrita, Jaa tujhe Teri maa bula rhi h." (Amrita, go your mother is calling you.)

I was busy admiring the flowers so deeply, that I forgot the purpose I came here for. I couldn't make myself forget that incident but I had to lighten up my mood and not think about so much.

Why did I react like that? Maybe he was just coming in the garden to check up on it. Why was I scared? He was not there for me, if he was, it would probably be because I am not in there. But it seems fine because after this, I won't be coming back to this palace.

"Haan, aayi kaki." (Yes, I am coming, aunty.)

I said and stood up, fixing my skirt and then started walking on the brick path towards the kitchen. When I reached the kitchen, I saw my maa cutting the vegetables and the she wore the anklets as there were twinkling with her movements.

When I made my presence known, she looks back at me and taking a carrot in her hand, she came towards me, glaring at me. I raised my hands to protect myself and asked what did I do wrong and why is she so angry?

She didn't say anything but when she was just an inch apart from me, she asked me why did I come here? I said that my purpose of coming which was simply give her anklets to her.

She took a sigh and said that this palace is not for someone like me. I asked why but instead of telling me the reason, she cupped my cheeks and said,"tu nhi samjhegi beti, tu abhi bahut nadaan h, yahan ke taur tarike nhi samjhegi. Tu ghar me hi rehti, main ghar aake to pehen hi leti. Tu tanikk bhi bhanak h agar koi tujhe dekh leta aaise to?" (You won't understand daughter, you are far too  innocent, you won't understand palace's rules and regulations. You could have stayed at home, when I would have returned, I would have worn it. If someone saw you like this then?)

"Aap kehna kya chahti h maa?" (What do you mean to say, maa?)

"Yahan rajya me, kunwari ladkion ka bina ghunghat ghumna mana h aur tu, tu aise hi aagayi." (Here in palace, maidens do not walk here and there and you walked right like this.)

"Tb wo Kahan rehti h, maa?" (Then where are they maa?)

"Apne kaksh mein."(In their rooms)

"Toh, aapke kehne ka arth h, yahan ladikyan nhi apne kaksh se bahar nhi nikalti?" (Then, you mean to say that they don't ever come out of their rooms?)

"Haa"(yes)

Oh my good god! What in the world did I do? Then, should I tell her? No, maybe not, it might get her in trouble too. I won't ever wander around and stay with mother for now.

"Kya hua beta? Tu thik h na? Ghabrayi Hui kyun h?" (What happened daughter? Are you alright? You look pale.)

"Nhi maa, main thik hoon." (No mother, I am fine."

"Bhagwan ka sukar h." (Thank goodness.)

"Achaa maa, ab kyunki Mera kaam ho gaya h to main jaa rhi-"Radhika!!" One woman screamed cutting me off. And came running towards maa. (Okay, mother, now that my work is done, I am going no-"Radhika!!")

She looked really pale and was scared as hell. What is happening? When she was near maa, she wishpered something in her ear which made maa also hella scared for some reason.

Before I could ask anything, they started running off to somewhere and I had no choice but to follow her and when I reached the area, I saw a woman lying on the ground.

What happened to her? Every servant
present was watching when a woman sprinkled some water on the lady and she opened her eyes, lazily and said that she must have overworked and hence, this is the result.

Gosh, she had me scared there. But thank goodness, she is fine. Just then I spotted maa and that lady, supporting the sick lady and making her sit on a stool and giving her water.

Just then someone came towards maa and said something in her ears again and this time, she looked worried and then she spotted me and then said something in that servants ear and the servant went away.

And then maa came towards me with that lady, and said that the lunch is to be served to the king and because that lady fell down, she will be taking rest and in this case, they are lacking in maids who will be serving the king.

And then the lady said that she is also worried as to who will serve the king now. Right then, she looked at me and asked mother that I may go.

I will have to serve the king? Absolutely no, not in my correct conscience, will I ever go infront of him!

Maa looked at me and then said, "nhi, mere rehte nhi. Main isse nhi bhej sakti Maharaj ke saamne. Ye abhi choti hai." (No, not when I am here. I won't bring infront of the king, she is not mature enough.)

"But we have no other option left." The lady said, making maa more pale than she already was. I don't want to cause trouble for her by not delivering king's food on time. So, I know I made a foolish choice, but I said that I will go.

And it took me some minutes to assure maa that after this day, I won't be coming to the palace so it's alright and that I can do it. And with the convincing of the lady, maa sighed and agreed but only one condition which was to stay behind her and do not do anything reckless.

I agreed and said that I won't and then we went ahead in the kitchen where every utensil, food and plates were kept and then went towards the dining room.

Quite an order we are in, currently. First lady, had the plate, second, had the glass, then it was maa carry sabzi, then it was me, carrying rotis and behind me, many more ladies, carrying different stuff in their thalis.

When we entered the dining room, I knew what maa told me so I didn't do anything of myself. Just stood there and when everyone stood at each other's side, we did and then I saw the king with through my veil.

And was extremely nervous and scared when I caught him staring at me only and then he ordered me to come forward.

What? Why me?
