Prank War #1

Prank: Being followed

Prankster: Hailey

Victim: Jake

3rd Person POV

Hailey was standing outside in the dimly lit street, phone pressed against her ear. After a few rings, Jake's familiar voice sounded on the other end.

"Hey, babe." Jake's voice was warm but tinged with a hint of concern. "Where are you? It's getting late."

"I'm just out for a walk," Hailey replied, feigning a slight tremble in her voice. She glanced around, making sure the street was still deserted. "But... I have a bit of a problem."

Jake's tone immediately shifted to one of worry. "What's wrong? Are you okay?"

"I... I think there's someone following me," Hailey murmured, exaggerating her fear a bit. Her heartbeat quickened, but she couldn't help the small smile playing on her lips as she anticipated his reaction.

There was a moment of silence on the line as Jake processed her words. Then, his voice tensed with panic. "What? Are you serious? Where are you? I'm coming to get you right now."

"No, no, don't worry," Hailey quickly reassured him, trying to control her laughter. "I'm okay, really. I just thought I saw someone behind me when I was walking, but I'm pretty sure it was just my imagination playing tricks on me."

Jake let out a sigh of relief, his worry only slightly diminished. "Thank God. You scared me for a second. But promise me, if you see something suspicious again, you'll call me right away, okay?"

"I promise," Hailey said, her voice a mix of sincere reassurance and her secret excitement for her prank. "I won't take any chances, don't worry. I'm just... a bit spooked right now, that's all."

"I understand," Jake said, his voice still holding a slight hint of concern. "But please be careful. And get home soon, okay?"

"I will, I will," Hailey assured him, trying to sound a little more anxious than she actually felt. "I'm heading back home now. I'll call you again when I get inside, okay?"

Hailey ended the call and took a moment to catch her breath, her heart still racing with a mix of excitement and guilt. After a couple of minutes, she called Jake again. This time, she decided to step up her acting game.

As the call connected, she began panting heavily, making sure it sounded authentic on the other end. "Jake... I... I think he's still following me."

"What?!" Jake's voice was tense with alarm, his concern growing by the second. "What do you mean 'still following you'? You said you were heading home!"

"I was, but I..." Hailey simulated the sound of panting as if she was running. In reality, she was standing still, trying hard to keep her giggles contained. "I took a different route because I thought I could lose him, but he's still behind me somewhere. I can hear his footsteps."

On the other end of the line, Jake's heart was racing, his mind filled with anxiety. The sound of Hailey panting and running through the phone was enough to make him grip the phone tighter, worry etched on his face.
